Wakeup Verizon and update your rate plans!!

Ok I am a very loyal Verizon subscriber but alas I will admit I was in Cingular today scoping it out and let me tell you, I don't care how many new customers verizon has been adding quartly this will change if they don't.
Roll over, $9 to add a line instead of $20, more minutes for the money, better phone selection etc. The call clarity was incredilbe and i even tried making calls from different areas w/in the mall with a friends cingular phone and it was amazing, got coverage my verizon couldn't in areas of the building and was clear as day. On top of that you get 1500 txt messages, unlimited web adn an insane number of media messages for $19 bucks! Wakeup Verizon if Cingular can do it...So can YOU!
*Just a note 7pm n/w would be nice als...

All of those things, especially the prices, is what made my mind up to switch to Cingular. The call quality is crystal clear on Cingular wherever I go, where as Verizon always had a slight static sound to it. The coverage is pretty much equal between the two for where I use it. But overall, Cingular has met my needs and more, better than Verizon ever did. I'll be sticking with Cingular for quite some time now. 😁

P.S. Cingular does offer 7 P.M. N&W, it is $7 extra though. ☚ī¸

If that is true, I'm glad. It looks as if Verizon might have finally gotten an incentive to lower their steep pricing. Competition.

Hey, I'm not complaining. 🙂

No they don't. They haven't for quite some time. I'd say around 6 months now. They uniformed their prices in all markets to make it fair and easier for the consumer. So therefore, there is no need for pricing by region. 🙂

I agree with you regarding the price of Cingular VS. Verizon. I am in Central NJ and all I hear from users is complaint about the signal and billing.... I am thinking of trying them anyway.... anyone wish to comment before I go down this slope?

Trying Cingular? If so, I'd say go for it! If you decide to do so, get a temporary line for Cingular in case you aren't happy with them. You'll have 30 days to test them out and if you decide to stay with them you can port your number over. If you're not happy with them you can simply cancel the service before the 30th day and only pay for the minutes you used. Nothing else changes. 🙂

Good luck!

Just remember not to cancel your current service, or you won't have any number to port or service to fall back on. Also check that you are out of contract before you decide to switch to Cingular if you like it. Otherwise you'll be slammed with the ETF by Verizon (or whoever you currently use), because once you port your number, you're service is automatically terminated.

Those tips are kind of obvious but they're good to know. Hope everything works out well!

Word of advice.

Make sure you activate service at a Cingular store because activating service through a dealer the buyers' remorse period is lesser than 30 days depending on vendor.

I believe the activation fee is fully waived if service is terminated within the first 3 days of activation thereafter you will be responsible for it plus monthly fees, taxes, charges, subcharges and any other garbage fees carriers add to the bill.

When returning equipment make sure phone doesn't show any physical damage ie. scratches, dents, water vapor etc. and have all receipts in hand and make sure you get a return receipt and keep in a safe place for at least 12 months.

Finally call customer care to make sure account is in "cancel status" and get...

LOL. You sound like a Cingular ad.

Seriously, if they really were all that, I'd be with 'em. But where I live, the SF Bay Area, Verizon just flat owns Cingular. I won't be switching. And I'm sure Verizon will continue to add more customers than Cingular too, as they've been doing for quite some time now. How DO they do that, if Cingular is all that and a bag of chips, I wonder?

Heck, T-Mobile adds more customers than Cingy does.

Why do you always stomp on people's positive opinions or motives when they involve Cingular? Obviously this person has had different experiences with Verizon than you have had. If he has been motivated to switch to Cingular because they offer something that fits his needs better, don't criticize him.

I don't recall him ever saying that he lived in the Bay Area so why do you continue to parade around this forum telling every...

Like an honest statement of opinion and personal experience. One that may not agree with yours, but an honest one nonetheless. Why does this bother you so?

it's ok to harass me, tell me to shut up, an call me unamerican. but if i tell him to shut up and stick to something more in his mental league, that's an insult? đŸ˜ŗ i'm not too sure i understand that double standard. i think that pretty much sums up the main problem with many of the "experts" on this forum. they expect to be judged by a double standard that only applies to them. it's entirely ok for them to harass, judge, insult, belittle, and bicker, but they have the right to complain when someone gives it right back to them? 🙄 maybe we should just take it up with the modera...

Jake, do me a favor and re-read Verizon81's post, and then re-read yours.

What I was getting at is that a loyal Verizon customer who recently decided that Cingular is a very good alternative to his Verizon service, voiced his opinion on this forum. I don't think it really matters what his reasons were. You have done the same thing as he did, voicing your opinion on this forum, about how Verizon is the best for you rather than Cingular. But in your case it seems never to be beneficial to somebody, but rather to criticize their opinion.

Why is it okay for you to reprimand somebody for voicing their opinion when you do it yourself? Now I must admit that he may have made himself susceptible to "attack" being this the Verizon forum, but...

This site just keeps deteriorating. The reason for my post was to see what plans verizon had because their arrogance was gonna cost them in the long run. I don't care what they have added in the past or in the very near future customer wise. When you have a carrier such as Cingular with excellent coverage damn close to verizons, better plans, btter phones etc guess waht you will end up LOSING customers, it is common sense. No need for any attacks. Verizon forum IS th eproper area to post this b/c I am talking ABOUT verizon in regards to cingular and not the other way around.

Sorry Ruff, but I think you're just being sensitive. The guy, in reality, did sound like a Cingular ad... it certainly wasn't an 'attack' to state the obvious.

Nor did I 'reprimand' him in any way or infringe on his right to state his opinion. He posted his opinion, I posted a contrasting one. Thats the way public discussion forums work. If he didn't want to deal with the possibility of a contrasting opinion, then he shouldn't have posted on a public forum.

I think the things you're saying and the attitude you're taking would be appropriate if I had personally attacked him in any way. I didn't.
