Upcoming Non-PDA Devices

BloodiedWraith

Mar 1, 2008, 7:57 PM
Okay, so I created a topic about PDA devices coming out, and there are several questions about some of the other devices. Well here's all the information I have right at this moment on those devices.

You guys already know about these:

LG-VX8610 (Late Q1/Early Q2)
LG-VX9100 (Late Q1/Early Q2)
SCH-U940 "Glyde" (March)
Motorola W755 (Summer)
Motorola V750 (Summer
Nokia 7205 (TBA)
Nokia 2605 (TBA)

And the only one new phone that I really have, isn't really a new phone at all:

Samsung U740 Silver (TBA)

No exact release dates, and no pricing available as of yet. I'll update this as usual when I know more information.

Also, any questions pertaining these devices post them here, and any PDA ones in the other topic to avoid ...

all vzw phones are out of date. vzw cripples all of its phones. If you want a great phone experience you guys should switch to boost mobile. You might not of heard about boos before but there great. They don't cripples phones and they actually have knowledgeable employees.

Boost has great deals everyday

Too bad the U740 isn't getting more than a color update. Better BlueTooth would be great!

The u940 looks pretty cool too.

Thanks Bloodiedwraith, I do have a question about the Smaung glyde (u940). I heard it has a WAP browser, but can't believe a phone with a huge screen would not take advantage of HTML. So, what type of browser does it have? Any features of this phone that stick out compared to the other phones. I had such high hopes for this one.

I honestly couldn't tell you what kind of browser it has, sorry. I primarily deal with PDAs. I'll try and find out a little more information on it when I get a chance.

So the answer to the age old question about the u940's browser... it's WAP. That's kinda sad, because it seems like a waste of a phone considering the size of the screen and how useful HTML on it would be.

Actually the Glyde-Samsung u940 has a Full HTML Browser. It is different from the one currently seen on the Voyager, so lets cross our fingers that it has some major improvements over the one in the VX10000. As for BloodiedWraith's reply, it has been stated on the Forum's that it is a WAP browser, however; this is incorrect. This info that the phone had a WAP browser was incorrectly published in the FCC user guide for this phone. If you look closely at this guide however, you will see that that particular guide is for a simlar phone to the u940 that Sprint will introduce.

As I've said before, I deal with the PDAs, not regular devices so this isn't proven by me like usual. However, knowin...

Actually I took the liberty to lookup the data sheet rather than relying on other people and it does indeed include full HTML browser. Now I don't think it is a waste of a phone and I apologize for the misinformation.

this may be a dumb question, but can you verify that the data sheet wasn't containing information relevant to the F700 and not the u940?

Touch is a PDA - this topic is not for them. But to answer your question, I tested the device. It's probably just as amazing as you'd expect it to be. I traded in my XV6900 and have been with the Palm Centro - Wish I didn't have to trade the XV6900 in heh.

I will definitely be purchasing one. But that's the last I talk of a non-pda in this topic =P

That's some of the stupidest sh*t I've ever heard. Not you, phantom, but the fact it's availability is contingent upon the selloff of BLACK? Why not rely on selling off champagne???

God, I hate how our exclusive phones are always in silver/grey (Env, 8830, and now the Alias.)

That's the only thing we ever lose out on-- color.

Can't VZW get some pigment? 🤣
