I just upgraded my family plan to two phones that have Vcast Music. Do I also need to buy the Music Essentials Kit to list to music on these phones? From what I can tell, the kit contains software, headphones, and a USB cable. The software is available for free download on the VZW website, and I have extra headphones and USB cable's laying around the house. I don't want to buy something I don't need. The phones I purchased are the Z6tv, and the Krazr.

Also, I already have an iPod. Knowing that I am familiar with the iPod experience, will I like Vcast music? I am curious about the user experience with Vcast music.

The best deal on the phones was through the VZW website, so it will be a few days before I receive the phones and get...

The best part of the Music Essentials kit is that you don't have to purchase music through VCast. If you already have MP3's on your computer, the software will convert it to the proper format for you phones. At least that is what I did with my LG Env. I would assume it will work the same with the Moto products. Did you get the memory cards for both phones? If not you won't be able to store but so much music.
Also, if you are going to download ring tones and ring backs using your Get It Now ...make sure you have the Vcast pack ($15.00 per month) for unlimited MB.. That way you don't get hit with the $1.99 per MB fee (that applies to going on Mob Web too) Anything from Vcast you just pay for the download without MB charges. But you can ...

The only thing you didnt mention was that there is a Sync Music Fix app available for the Krzr. It can be found at the VZW site under support-->Krzr bottom of the page.

Also, use windows media player 11. better mtp support.

You don't need the kit. You just need some method of getting the music to a memory card or your phone. If you put it directly to the phone then you need a USB cable that goes from USB to mini-USB. The software is WMP (and drivers), which can be gotten online and headphones are headphones if you already own them.

Alternatively you can also use a memory card reader and put the music (you'll have to convert them to WMA yourself if you do it this way) on the memory card in a folder named MY_MUSIC ...

Hope that helps.

I prefer this method as well. First, format your micro-SD in the handset. It will set up 4 folders. Then drop and drag your MP# music from your computer to the card (I would assume your computer has an SD card reader built in)and there you have it. I use my CD's, Limewire, etc. for music.
