still no EVDO in South Dakota! I am starting to get anxious even thinking about switching to Alltel (who has EVDO accross most of the state). I hate alltel... don't make me do it verizon! DONT!

Same for me, except I won't switch to another carrier over EVDO. I live in upstate NY, and once you go north of central NY, there is no EVDO. It is annoying, but hopefully this year my area will get the upgrade.

We have been told that in South Dakota (Sioux Fall's at least) we will have it by the end of June, that should be true we were told we could tell customers that. My guess is that it may be before then, that is just a cushion date, in case there are any snags they have time to fix it before launching. Where in SD are you?

I would still say the majority if not all of the VZW network will be EVDO by the end of the year. Just hang in there. I'm in one of those areas too and we're being told by the end of June here.

So I turned on my phone today and it had the split evdo 1x display for about ten seconds and I got all excited and then it went away. does that mean its coming?

When I lived in PA and they turned EVDO on there that is exactly what happened. Only thing is they "played" with the system for 3 months before actually turning on the EVDO. Again, I know how you feel...it was a long...long...three months.

Look, I went through this little thing where I got fed up with Verizon (it was a coverage issue) but take it from me, don't leave Verizon for Alltel, that is exactly what I did and I regret every bit of it! I took them for granted. I don't live in the Dakota's, I live in Virginia but it shouldn't matter. If you like using Mobile Web to check ur minutes, check movies, news etc. then you will find Alltel's mobile web is NOT that great, in fact I dropped my mobile web because it sucked so bad. You can still look up some of this info but its not as user friendly as Verizon's. And you CAN'T look up ur minutes on Mobile Web with Alltel. The only thing you can do on "My Account" on ur cell is change Ringbacks and load wallpaper. The text mes...

I went to the verizon store in the mall and some of their phones had evdo some didn't but one razor had it then didn't. hmm... i should have asked but everyone was busy and I didn't have time to wait. I will just wait it out.
You bet anything the second my evdo comes on and stays on I am signing up for mobile web! I loved it on alltel. (using it not the service!)

Yeah I switched to Alltel because i got fed up with the common interface and other petty crap, then after switching I realized that reliablity goes a long way. I mean, why have a shiny new car with neon lights, tented windows, nice wheels, when the engine don't run worth crap? Same as a cell carrier, I used to complain over the common UI and crippled bluetooth, but when I gave up a reliable network, large selection of phones, user options, better national coverage (alltel has "fine print" about that) etc...well I should have stayed with Verizon!
