I need some help on something please? I am not happy with At&t's prices and I am looking to switch. I like in the Metro Detroit area and I wondered how was the coverage? What is a good phone for texting, music, and good call quality? Any and all information is much appreciated.

Verizon and att pretty much have the same prices...what is att overcharging you for?... because you might run into the same financial situation with verizon. My mom lives in Michigan (Ann Arbor) but has family in Detroit and never has any problems when visiting there. Anyways Verizon has much better service than att so you'll notice a big difference in call clarity! Get a temp number and take advantage of their test drive...most verizon phones are pretty good. The lg 8350 is a solid phone, env, Voyager, Venus, etc? If you want a text centric phone the env is tops! Let us know! Plus the Curve in a few weeks

Actually you would want to port your number to take advantage of the test drive. You have to port your number out from Verizon within 30 days to do the test drive. If you get a temporary number then you wouldn't be porting that number out if you don't like it and wouldn't be able to do the "Test Drive".

Oh yeah my bad...then OP i would suggest doing a temp number it would be less hassle if you decide that you don't care for the service.

I'm sorry you should reconsider before you switch to vzw.. vzw is known as the dark empire in the wireless industry. they are nothing but money hungry company. examples of which starts with crippled bluetooth - IE law suit placed against them with motorola v710. poor selection on phones. att has exclusive phone like the iphone and curve. so as they mentioned before you pay the same price with vzw..but with att you have better selection on phones, and roll-over.

Let him go. If he is not phone savvy and just wants to make calls he will be fine.

I do not care about my phones I mean At&t was some great phones, but I would rather have quality over the pricy phones.

VZW will be the better choice for you then IMO. The prices are more less about the same, I swear it's almost collusion.

Then Verizon should be perfect for you. I don't understand the issue.

OK, so "...with att you have better selection on phones, and roll-over."

You need pretty phones to distract you from the fact that you cannot make calls in as many areas as you can with VZW, and you need roll-over so you don't have to call CS to get credit every time you drop a freakin' call!

All of my friends on AT&T in Orange County, CA, have terrible service.

They cannot make calls from their homes, and I love to tease them by taking out my VZW XV6800 and leaving them a voice mail because their phones won't even ring!

I was at a friend's place for dinner last night, and I was the only one on VZW, my wife is on Sprint, and the other seven people are on AT&T. ***NOT ONE*** of those SEVEN phones could make or receive a call sitti...

I currently live in Ann Arbor and two weeks ago switched to AT&T from Verizon because of the curve.

I switched back to Verizon yesterday because of the service. AT&T is good for the most part everywhere. I seemed to run into issues when I was in buildings (no service in Sams Club in Ypsilanti w/ AT&T but service w/ Verizon) even my house with the phone next to a window the call would fade in and out; I didn't have that issue with Verizon. I use my phone for business and need to have a signal that doesn't fade in and out.

I ended up getting the Blackberry World phone and if Verizon gets the curve I will upgrade. Before this I had the Verizon pearl and hated the keyboard.

AT&T = "Best Coverage"

Apparently, the rocket scientists over at AT&T mistake "larger overall SERVICE area (globally...read the fine print) to mean "best" coverage. Not "best" by a long shot, just physically larger (global).

Sucks harder than a class 5 tornado for actual usability here in CA.
