I have been a Verizon customer for sometime now and have been very happy. However I am glad that things are starting to happen. I have looked at Cingular b/c they flat ou beat Verizon on plans and on actual coverage without counting roaming agreements where alot is analog. Disabling phone capabilities is not putting the customer first. Wakeup Verizon...Add roll over and stop being greedy when it comes to your phones and give hte customer what they want. There is REAL competition out there....do you want to fall further behind in the game?
(not trying to start an argument just my thoughts)

But that was before the merger. They will fall behind if they don't wakeup. There plans are worse, even the updated ones because of no roll over which is huge. There actual network they own is smaller than Cingular. The phones they offer are bigger, less battery life and less options. I hope they can change all this before they start losing more than there adding. Honestly it is just a matter of time if Cingular keeps up the pressure since the merger. If Verizon bought out Alltel and updated them to all digital it would be significant for instance.

It may be after the merger as well. Customer add numbers are due out very soon, and rumor is that Verizon is still doing incredibly well there, better than Cingular.

Doesn't seem like they're sweating too much.

The proper word isn't even "better".

I disagree, I think it's a matter of time before VzW subs outnumber Cingular subs.

Have to agree there. Even without a merger, Verizon will probably re-take #1 in the next 18 months.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't pull even within the next year.

Personally, i think verizon and cingular are about the same seriously...... i have a cingular phone and have family with verizon... now my phone almost always works and it actually got a whole lot better since the merge to the point were i hardly lose service and from what hear verizon is just about the same i have had instances were my phone read no service and a verizon one had it and i have had complete opposites to the point were mine had full bars and the verizon was dead..... however the way verizon is going about business blocking phones and crappy rateplans and stuff really is going to come back and bite them in the ass maybe not now not tomorrow but eventually PEOPLE ARE GONNA GET SMART (i know you get what you pay for but seriously...
