It's definitely a possibility/risk.

wrong.

you get your deposit back if/when:

1. you make 12 monthly payments in a row and on time. you also get 3% intrest on your deposit if you do this.

2. your contract ends

if you miss a payment, your 12 in a row will be reset, but you can still make 12 in a row to get the deposit back, and i would assume still get the 3%

Im pretty sure your last point is wrong.

1. correct

2. correct

but if they have been a customer for more then 1 year they just have to make 3 payments on time in a row was what it use to be.

What am I so wrong about? He asked if late payments jeopardizes his deposit, and all I said was that it was risky.

You said I'm wrong, then you say

Doesn't that reiterate what I said?

I said you risk losing your deposit if you're delinquent, then you say I'm wrong and also say "you get your deposit back if you pay on time"

See where I'm confused?

In practice, if you pay late a couple times but your account never gets suspended or hotlined for non-pay you'll generally get the deposit back after 12 months. Any suspension or hotline automatically resets the 12 months, period. I guess if there was an erroneous charge on your account that took a couple months to get credited, a customer service rep could submit a request to have the deposit manually reviewed, but if you left a penny more than the final credit amount on it at that time I wouldn't expect the deposit back.

If you've got the cash but bad credit's hurt you with this, I suggest setting up an automatic payment from a bank account.

you said late payments may cause you to not get the deposit back. that is not the case. you will get the deposit back at the end of your contract. going delinquent and being suspend for non-pay is differnet than making a payment late, and that, as far as i know, is the only way to not get your deposit back

The verbiage got mixed up. Thanks for clearing it up.

So if you carry a late fee every month for 12 months you're technically still kinda ok?
