Does anyone know if I will be able to order the htc touch ( when it comes out) without the data? I dont need internet and downloads, I want the pda for the appt book type calendar it has. When I look online I cannot order a pda with a basic family plan option. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Looking at your past posts...I doubt the touch is a phone you'd want. You've said you don't need the internet/data functionality of the phone. So you'll be paying more for a phone that you're not utilizing what it's meant for. With everything you've stated in your posts, the Voyager is the type of phone you wanted "touch screen with a qwerty keypad and don't need data". The Touch is a virtual qwerty and not a physical one. There's no need to get the phone you think is the absolute best phone available, because you will never be able to keep up without spending a fortune. But yes...you can get the Touch with pay-as-you-go data and the phone will cost you more than if you had the data. I don't think it's worth your while based on your p...

I have the voyager now, and I dont care for it. The calander is horrible for what I need it for and the phone is way too big. I thought I really wanted the qwerty but after using this phone i dont really care for the 'flip it open and use it'. I went to sprint just to see theres, and it was more of what i would like....I think 😕 . I just dont need the internet. Would I still be able to use the windows functions? Thanks for the info.

The Windows functions is what the phone is based upon and has nothing to do with the data feature. If the qwerty is not what you need then the Touch will work. But again, go to the Verizon Store and try it before you buy it. The phone will be out before your 30 days are up. If you call Customer Service you can probably get them to remark your account to provide you with a bit of an extension because that phone was announced and the dates were released publicly. The only other phone I would possibly suggest is the LG VX9700 (or Dare as it may be named). This will be like the Voyager without the flip. It will have a virtual keyboard, BUT you will have the standard non-PDA calendar. Your biggest need as it seems is that feature and that...

I see the pictures of the dare and yes, i do like the looks of that but like you said, the calendar will probably be just like the one on the voyager. Is it true that the touch will be available online 2 wks before it hits the store? The Dare, any dates on that one?

If your not planing to use the internet or wireless sync but would like to have the nicer calender, better address book and be able to have your email on there (just not wirelessly, sp?) it makes perfect sense. I don't think the OP said anything about not being able to afford the data so that shouldn't be something you are concerned about. It makes perfect sense to use a PDA without data, one less device to carry (no need for another PDA type device) and if in the future she decides that she wants to use the internet and wireless sync she has that option. I don't really think you needed to jump on her for this, it's her choice and her money, not yours.

nicely put. Its not a matter of affording it. Its a matter of why should I pay 30-40$ a month for something I am not going to use? If it was a matter of affording something do you think I would be spending that much on a phone period?
