Do you get free Walmart purchases for purchasing with them for over 2 years?

This is for the Customers who believe everything should be free and that companies should bend over backwards to give them everything and anything. When you do to Walmart you have to pay for everything, and even if you've shopped there for 10 years they will never give you a free shopping cart. BUT you will continue to shop there. When you upgrade your phone, even though you have paid for a SERVICE how do you expect everything free? The SERVICE costs money to run and use. No cell phone company is a non profit organization, and I believe it is time for cell phone companies to put their foot down. 🙄

You mean the outrageous fee we pay for half ass cell phone service isn't enough for a new phone every frickin 2 years? It's amazing how some Verizon reps feel that my $120 a month bill for just WIRELESS voice/text service doesn't warrant a better deal when upgrading a phone. $2880 you earn for 2 years, and the best you can offer is $50 off a phone? What a joke. Welcome to America, where telcom is years behind the world.

how is it worse? you pay per month... you have a term to fullfil... and with an apartment your rent usually increases after you've fullfilled your duration... so just realize it would be worse... you could get charged full price for a new phone, or not have the option ya know. You're complaint about wanting free stuff is really old and boring.

Actually no, my rent has never increased. Free services? No. A bigger discount on phones for paying almost $3k in contract fees? Yes. Still, your analogy sucks.

ok.. i hate to say it.. but port then. Verizon offers a better upgrade policy then any other carrier.. so if you don't like it, then go try someone else's.

If I didn't get such a discount from work, I would port over before you could even cancel me out. But then again, porting over doesn't solve the issue that the US blows in the telecom industry, and is years behind the world. I've had both Verizon and AT&T, both of which had fine networks in my area. My choice with Verizon is solely based on my work discount and nothing more.

we may be "years behind the rest of the world" but, go to europe and see how many free or discounted phones you get. simple answer, none. so quityerbtchin!!

just cuz you pay us so much a year for a service that you want, see want not need, does not be any means mean you are entitled to free or discounted products. we are nice enough to give you nearly $200 of a phone when you first sign up and then another $200 or more off a new phone every 20 months. if that isnt enough to please you, then you are a greedy mofo and dont deserve the discounts we are already giving you.

want a good analogy. you sign an apartment lease and agree to pay them $xx.xx per month for so many months or years. at the end of the lease when you have the option to ...

actually... its sad to say but in todays world, you are a "valued" customer if you do pay your bill on time because a good share of people, DONT give a 😉 😉 😉 😉 about their end of the bargain and DONT pay their bills on time so really companies should treat the ones that do, somewhat special. Not saying they need to throw free stuff at them all the time, but show appreciation. I am a business owner and my husband ownes 2. I can honestly say that when you show your appreciation to the good customers, they feel appreciated and would not look somewhere else for the services you offer, for whatever reason. So there is something to be said for customer appreciation. 🙂

Crosscom, and yes you can play anyone on the internet, but what sets you apart is your backround and well proof, what would you like to know. When you say Telecom its way to broad, you should be more clear if you dont want anybody correcting you. I went to San Jose state, and SDSU. Im more of a Sales/Engineer, so I am not as technical as a Teir 3 support Engineer, I dont trouble shoot any issues I sale the sollutions and I have a BSCS.

I think what RyanG may have been talking about is there are lots of people in the various tech magazines that feel that the USA could have a much better network if all providers used the same protocol (gsm) like in Europe. Apparently you can buy any gsm phone, as long as it has the correct bands, and use it anywhere in Europe Also the phones overseas are generally released with new features before phones in the US get the same features, I had a coworker whose sister sold phones in China, she always has phones months before they hit the US. This is what is usually meant when people say that the US wireless industry is behind Europe. And supposedly there are less places in Europe with no signal but of course the US has lots more open spaces th...

Like I said he needs to specify what part of "TELECOM" he is talking about. The US is the one that defines most standards in any type of TELECOM. Just because Europe picked GSM does not mean it is better. Dont get me started on GSM V.s CDMA im sure there is another post for that. What makes the United States great is it diversity. We dont jump on bandwagons, remember this is a capitolist country.

"hello electric company? yea...I paid my bill again on time...think I could get a free month or so?" Yea...pretty much the same. It's sad that people think they deserve something for free just because they pay their bills. I'll tell ya what you get...you get to NOT have a horrible credit report...YAY!!!! As for your "i pay $120 a month" and wanting a free phone...Make yourself a 10,000+ line company that spends several thousand or hundred thousand dollars a month and THEN you can get free equipment.

I have actually never paid for a shopping cart at Walmart, and since the only place I can use my walmart shopping cart is at walmart and the only place I can use my VZW phone is on a VZW network I think Verizon Wireless owes me money for the phones I have paid for. Thanks that's a great analogy, I'm going to be even more insistent about a free phone. You are a great advocate for the VZW user community.

If the Carriers NEVER offered free phones in the first place this would not be an issue. But the carriers want it both ways. They want to chum for new users and old users with free phones.

Then they want the customer to put a value on what they are advertising ans F R E E!!!Then they rip the customers becasue in reality all of a sudden the phones re NOT free.

I say dispense with free phones and just sell the service. Problem solved. And don;t tell me customers will have to pay full retail for a phone. There are very little (if any) retail electronics that are not discounted at least 1/3 of MSRP You would be surprised to see how fast phone prices drop when the Wal Marts of the world sell them without service contracts.

Even the Noki...

I agree 100% that the carriers should not give free phones, Phones would probably actually be cheaper because absolutely nothing is free and the phones are probably marked up to an inflated value to give you a sense of getting a bigger discount. This would however release controll of the devices on teh network and the cariers would then have to either not support any extra features which would cause a loss of revenue or have only a short list of supported devices that they garantee to work, which would cause just as much complaining as we have now.

My point was that there is no analogy that will make everyone say, "oh, your right we shouldn't get free phones or discounts" and I just think it's funny and if you think the world is that simp...
