There has been some confusion on whether Verizon could even deploy QChat, with the platform having roots in joint Nextel/Qualcomm development in 2003, owing to the former carrier’s preliminary decision to overlay CDMA EVDO access on top of iDEN in order to transition to CDMA. Nextel was eventually purchased by Sprint resulting in finalized development of the platform.

While Sprint does have exclusivity rights regarding interoperability between Sprint CDMA and iDEN devices, the platform itself is owned by...

too lazy to look up the thread, but someone said that qchat is a proprietary label for Sprint solamente 🙂 and VZW will have something similar, just under different terms. same basic technology, if I remember correctly.

cross your heart, hope for no delays. I'm not promising ANYTHING to my customers; I asked our Verizon rep recently, when she asked if we had anything we'd like to see more of, "Yea, how 'bout more info on upcoming phones? Not even prior to the two-week thing, just within those two weeks, let us know more about the phones, their features, etc." Her response was that with all the delays, etc., it would be wasted education, b/c then employees would set customer expectations, and customers owuld be pissed. yea. I could see that, since you have no knowledge of our current line-up 👿
