1 year warranty question!
My mom has had the the lg vx8550 since july 7, 2007.
For the past three weeks, the phone repeatedly shuts itself off. When she turns it back on, it will shut itself off again... it doesn't do the "goodbye" screen or anything, it just goes black and is off... as if you took the battery out.
The battery is secure on the phone, the phone has never been dropped or gotten wet....
Is there a 1 year manufacturer's warranty? If so, she should be covered to get a new phone, right?!
Can she get a new phone from LG.. or verizon?!
I'm totally clueless... if anyone could lead me in the right direction, that'd be great!
Thanks

Take the phone to a Verizon Corporate store. Most kiosks do not stock warranty phones so go to a store. If they verify the phones problem and it has not been liquid damaged, they will give you a FRU phone. It is a refurb but it still carries the remainder of your manuf. warranty.

Just to correct you...FRU's (Field Replacement Units) are not refurbished phones. Refurbished phones are the original phone cleaned up and resold (i.e. Sprint). FRU's are either overstock phones that didn't sell, outsource vendors stock that were closed down (when radio shack ended with VZW, their stock was used as fru's) or it is parts of another phone put together and tested (these are the ones that tend to fail most often). The easiest way to tell is check the Call Timer in the menu...0:00 means never used and not refurbished. But everything else you said was accurate. The phone will be tested by a store technician, if it's deemed to be a warranty issue, they will replace the phone which will be covered for the balance of the warrant...
