Product Placement

So I'm watching Iron Man this weekend see Tony Stark pull out a vx9400 with it's giant VZW logo and all.

I throw up the V and then realize...
"Why is he video-conferencing?!"

Later Terrence Howards character has a vx8600. Ah, the nostalgia...

Anyway do you think VZW will get it's money worth for paying to have their product in a movie? This just pops in my head cause I work for VZW, but really wonder how it affects people who aren't in the cellular biz. Do you think the average Joe cares that he has a VZW phone? Or do you think most concentrate on the manfacturer of the phone. I know LG's gonna get paid from pushing their product, but how much does it really affect VZW?

Also the Nokia 6205 will be the feature phone in The Dark Knight. Just a heads up.

yeah it does make a difference, and I think it gives owners a sense of pride that their phone was in a movie and verizon is the one that made it happen.

With TV and radio marketing becoming so fragmented due to all of the options...product placement is a great way to get new items in front of a customer.

LG did a great job marketing for this movie. Only their stuff was used and Verizon chipped in to have their logo on screen. It's a great product placement (just like sneaking a coke label in)...it makes people go "Hey...if he has Verizon, I should too." HOWEVER!!! LG didn't just plug Verizon on this one, AT&T got their lil bit with the "Iron Man" phone (red and gold Shine (over on endgadget you can win one...they go for $1500 but I won't link it 😛 you look)). Several of the random "Iron Man" commercials feature the Voyager as well. So yea...it's nice to see good product placement in movies...though I wouldn't want to see the next Spider-Man in Spider-Man 4 movie (2009) pull out an iPhone...or Wolverine in the next X-Men movie (2009) ...

🤣 That doesn't surprise me that you'd do that Chris. The first one made it obvious that there would be a second. The bigger surprises are the 4th Spider-Man (after the main players said "no" to another) and yet another X-Men...which is a prequal 🙄

Money talks baby! If a movie keeps making 200 Million, why not release another one?

I actually thought the 3rd spiderman was the best one of the 3...guess we'll have to wait and see how 4 turns out.

I always see the the iphone on NCIS which makes me laugh because I doubt that would be the phone provided by the government. I am sure they have a BES hooked up.

Yes. I've had several people ask for it since the movie came out, when it wasn't crazy popular before.

I thought the same thing when I saw it... that movie was full of product placement examples.

Oh I hope not...it's too old. The "Ironman Phone" is actually an LG Shine. As stated earlier, there is a story on engadget (that I won't link to because I don't want to) to which you can win one.
