Has anyone heard about the whole Qwest moving over to Verizon? I have had three customers ask in the past two days.

Qwest needs this more than Verizon but the deal entails they can start to sell VZW devices beginning at this summer but still has that contract, Q, with Sprint until 2009. Customers would have an option to move over to the VZW network. Q will also just sell the service under VZW not under Qwest. They will offer bundled products. If I remember correctly Qwest only has access to low end handsets while with this deal Qwest can offer all of VZW’s products whether they are low end or high end; it does not matter. Customers can buy products and services from Qwest but the subscribers would be VZW’s. Each phone has to be activated on the VZ network. Firmware should be given also has another upgrade.

Also in the Qwest retail locations they only have the phones on display (not sure if they are live or not, I dont think they are) and not for sale (kind of), all phones have to be ordered through direct fufillment (by Qwest) and shipped to the customer. Kinda sucks for Qwest but is good for the rest of us agents who are already dealing with a VZ saturated market. Too many agents here already it will suck to have to add 2 more with Qwest, but they don't fully count since most customers want try the phone before they buy it and walk out with it that day. We will see what kind of impact they have. In our mall we are already across the food court from corp and have a Qwest kiosk two down from ours. 😡
