I received a phonecall today from a Verizon retail store "informing" me that my phone and my wife's phone are elligible for upgrade. I then informed the salesman that my phone is NOT elligible and that my wife knows her phone is elligible. "Let me check", he responded. I told him to check it on his own time, that I don't care to have my monthly allowance of minutes taken up by cold calls from a Verizon salesman trying to drum up business.
If Verizon wants to make calls for such a purpose, it should do so without such calls being charged against the customer's monthly allowance.
...
chill we are required to make those calls, but you are not required to be such an a$$hole. If it is a number you don't know don't answer it, besides most of those calls are made on a VZ cell phone they are not using your min. And besides they aren't cold calls you are all ready a customer and it is a courtesy call for your benefit
...
I agree with the OP I don't need some verizon db calling me telling me something I already know....most those calls doesn't mean all the calls!
...
That's exactly why I hate doing those calls in our store. We actually had 5 Star taken away from us because we didn't use it enough. Oh well... most customers are annoyed by it anyway.
...
That's a great attitude to have about it. Are you aware that if your five star is taken away that your customer list is given to A.)another indirect location that is utilizing five star or B.)a corporate location who I guarantee you will contact each person on that list or C.)telesales who contact customers by phone for a living. All of which will not direct customers into your location. Way to lose business pal.
...
The funny thing is our customers are in our town and the nearest corporate store is about 30 miles away. Sure they can call my customers, then they are going to come here. My customers are very loyal to our store. If they get a call saying they can upgrade or this or that they are going to tell the person that they will visit their local store and end up here.
...
That's a positive outlook on it.
...
Trust me we don't want to do it as much as you don't want us calling, but we are required to make those calls 😡 . It's not fun calling a stranger to tell them they are ready for an upgrade. On the other hand most are appreciative when we call about min and texting overage. Also a lot of people do not realize that they are eligible for an upgrade, we have no way of know that you know that, so be nice to the rep if they do call and if you don't want to be contacted again tell them that and they can put you on the do not call list.
...
Cool there you go OP, just asked to be put on the list! good info. I have never received any calls because when my ne2 is up i am all over it.
...
Me too (except I don't wait for NE2, trade in or an early up), but I am a little different then Grandma May who dosen't want to learn how to use a new phone, 3200 works for her.
...
Sorry, but this call was not made on a Verizon cellphone. I looked and the time was charged to my monthly allowance. They are not making these kinds of calls as a courtesy, they are making them to sell phones and services. I should not have minutes charged against my monthly allowance for the purpose of Verizon selling its products. As for not answering the phone, yes, that is an option, but should I have to do that (when it could be a significant call) to protect myself against solicitation by Verizon?
...
Your right, it is a sales call. I understand it can be frustrating but we all get them. Again, tell them to put you on the do not call list. We do not know that you have received 5 other calls for something unrelated to our call, we are just doing our job. I don't like doing it as much as you don't like getting them but as someone else stated I don't get my commission check if I don't do the calls. I'm sure there are parts of you job that piss other people off but you still have to do it don't you? Tell the person, I'm not interested could you please put me on your do not call list. Legally once you ask to be put on the do not call list that company cannot contact you again, it should work to get rid of all your extra calls that make it so h...

Is your cell phone your contact number on your account? My understanding is we are NOT to call the mobiles unless it is the contact number on the account.
I also have experience customers saying "Why didn't you call me and tell me blah bla blah." so it does go both ways.

lol agree

I think this is absolutely hillarious. Reps can bash customers all day long, whine and complain about how "ignorant" or how "stupid" a customer is, start threads about "stupid customer of the day", but the second a customer has a legitimate complaint some of you reps instantly turn into the victims.
...
Tell them to put you on the do not call list they you don't have to worry about getting called again. Also be nice to the rep, they are just doing there job there is no reason to bite their head off for it.
...
I don't mean to bite their head off, but I can't tell you how many solicitation calls I receive in a day from different vendors when I'm trying to get work done. I realize that the salesman is just trying to make a living, but when I am busy it can be aggravating.
...
you are preaching to the choir. WE don't get a check unless we turn in our 5 star (calls) with our paperwork. seems like you are spending a lot of your precious time whining about this I don't know what posting this here will accomplish. You don't see me bitching about getting automated calls for presidential candidates on my cell phone because I don't answer calls I don't know...if it's important they can leave a message.
...
🙄
next month it will be, "why didnt they call to tell me i went over my minutes?!"
its a courtesy call for YOUR benefit.
...
I am sorry that you receive these calls. I am also sorry that we have to make them. Most sales people I talk to do not WANT to make the calls, the direction comes from our higher ups. You can have them put you on a do not call list and this will stop your name from popping up, and that is what I would recommend you do. Please keep in mind, though, that chances are if you receive one of these calls, the sales rep is just as unhappy about being required to make the call as you are to receive it.
...
Corutesy calls aren't supposed to be to the customer mobile number UNLESS no other number has been provided. They are calls typically from an outsourced agent but, as everyone else has said, you can request to be removed from the calling list. A call to Customer Service can also have you added to an internal Do Not Call list.

I know it can be frustrating to receive calls from an unknown number, only to find out it is a Verizon sales rep on the other end. As an indirect agent, I am one of those Verizon reps required to make X amount of calls each day. As annoying as it is, it is our job, and we do not making the calls anymore than you like getting them. If this is something that really is bothering you, call into Customer Care and have your number added to the "Do Not Call" list.
On a side note, in my store we are required to use our own personal cell phones so that no customer is charged for airtime. I realize this may not be the case for every store, and I do apologize for that.
...
Just like most, very un appreciative, and rude. Maybe if you look at things in a positive light you may get some where in life.
...
A couple things. First I am guessing you are not in sales. If you are a salesperson this is a good way for them to make extra $ and do something constructive in their down time. Second If you are a higher up you are going to make them do this so you are more successful yourself.. No reason to be rude, atleaste you are being called about a service you already have, it is not some random telemarketing campaign. Also you must realize if you are on this forum then you are actually on top of things and fall in about 10% of our customers, while the other 90% walking around with a moto 265(or some other old crap phone) that is totally jacked does not even realize they could get a nicer phone for next to nothing.
Long story ort, just don't answe...
