So I have an LG 8600. We just got EVDO here in SOuth Dakota. Everytime I make a call or text, the double bars (EV and 1x) merge and EV goes away.... but on my razor, which yes I got the new programing in, the double bars dont go away during a call or text....

So I am confused why it does this. The person at the verizon store that I called was no help.

on most phones when you initiate a call the 4 bars of EV (evdo) will go away because making a call only access the voice network, therefore you have no need for evdo.

It doesn't matter if you can see the bars or not. You can't use EV-DO when using the 1xRTT Network (when making phone calls). The difference in look doesn't mean anything more than that.

Yea what they said. If you see the EV bars while on the call, you're destined for a dropped call (if the 1x bars go away). But you still have EV signal, you are just not needing it at the moment, so they hide. Don't worry, they'll come rushing back to comfort you as soon as you disconnect the call.

I wasn't worried, and that is what I suspected. Its funny that you can usually get more correct info and/or better help from someone on phonescoop than you sometimes can from calling in or going to the store. Seriously sometimes when i go to the store i feel like I am teaching the reps something new! The other day I taught the rep how to change the number from one phone to the other while they updated my razor. seriously should't she have known that by now?????
