HELP!!!.....Frustrated with my BB8830

Hello.

I am wondering if anyone can help me with this. Very frustrated with my BB8830. Basically, I am having problem with the "Loose" charging port. I am on my 3rd or 4th BB8830 and after a while the charging ports get very loose from daily loose. One time, they gave me a phone with messed up lcd screen. I take good care of my blackberry and keep it out of harms way but this seems to be a repeating problem for me. I also signed a 2 year contract last june along with the phone and I do not want the 8830 anymore and my warranty is running out so I am looking to get into the new Curve...

Can someone tell my what my options are??? Would really appreciate your help.

Option 1:You could purchase the curve at retail (not the ideal, since they are expensive)

Option 2: You could talk to a warranty rep either in a corporate store in your area or calling into customer service. If the problem with your device is found to be covered under warranty (there are a number of things that affect this, so I will NEVER promise that anything is covered under warranty without physically looking at the device) then they should replace the device for you. There is a certian number of times they are required to replace with the same device before they will let you try a different one, and I am unsure on what the number of replacements with the blackberry is as this can vary by which billing region you are in. It is defina...

yeah it does help out a bit thanks....like i said, i've had same problems 3 times and then once for screen problem.

I really love the bb8830, love the trackball but I don't think 8830 is sturdy enough and I am a grown a$$ man that takes care of his stuff, not a 16 year old banging phones around.

Option 2, I don't think they will replace it with anything other then a brand new 8830. I believe the policy is different for PDA's/Smartphones/Blackberries. I have tried this in the past for a customer who had 5 bad FRU Treo's and the best they would do was replace it with a brand new Treo, the guy was even willing to go to a phone but they wouldn't. It also depends on the person in tech you talk to, everyone will handle it a little differently, some are very flexible, other are very strict. Good Luck.

If you went for the Curve you'd either have to pay retail or do their Annual Upgrade to pick it up at a still pretty-high price and lose your New Every Two discount.

If you have any interest in getting a Pearl, you could probably haggle Customer Service on the price a little. It would probably still use your Annual upgrade, but it would be much, much cheaper then the Curve, probably. Hope you like Sure-Type. 😁

Thanks gang for your input.

No, I do not want the pearl. Before I got my 8830 I was so fed up w/ VZW, eventhough I had been with them for 8 years, I decided to try Tmobile Pearl....Needless to say, I came back to VZW within the 15 days and I did not want to believe me.

I am really no longer a fan of VZW due to their lack of loyalty and customer service but I believe they do have the best network, drop calls, and voice quality.

It was great in the old days but since every tom dick and harry wants to go with vzw, they can sit back and pick and choose their customers so I don't even really want to bother them unless there is a problem....

You say you are fed up with VZW for their lack of loyalty and cs? Correct me if I am wrong....but if they have replaced your equipment 3 times, it seems to me that they are working with you and trying to resolve the issue. Why don't you simply call into CS without and talk to them about your problem. They may just be willing to work with you. Yes, you will have to go through some troubleshooting and speak with CS and Data Tech, but they will be trying to help you.
Otherwise, wait until your 1 year is up and get your early upgrade if you are eligible.

Thanks for the response....yeah i've already spoken to CS and BB tech dude and they offered to send me another refurb phone after being on the phone w/ them for an hour....which i could have done by walking into the store.

In my eyes, since i've returned the dam phone 4 times, the only resolution would be to put me in another phone.

Basically after the 1 year is up, which is in june, I am screwed since they'll simply tell me that my warranty is up and they can't give me another phone...

I agree. The charging port in those is universal for all carriers. I haven't heard a mass problem occurring with Blackberry devices having loose charge ports. I think he's just being too hard on the phone.

4 phones with the same problem, i'll agree with the user error. Its not like its a common problem with the BB. The odds are against all 4 being defective with the same issue.
