I really thought that US Cellular would be the company that VZW purchased and not Alltel. US Cellular has some great coverage in midwest markets like Chicago that would have boosted VZW coverage.
Nonetheless, this will make VZW the premiere carrier in the US. I think it will give phone manufacturers more incentives to create CDMA phones as quick as they do the GSM phones in our country due to the sheer volume that the new VZW will consume. Before you say that both companies already were CDMA, think about the fact that now they will only have to make one type of software for these devices.

why are you screwed? this is a positive change.. more phones, bigger network with no roaming, free calling to 80 million people if you change to nationwide plans. if you want to stay at your current plan you will (more then likely) not have to change.

most likely they will be grandfathered in on their current plans, including my circle. I cant see VZW forcing 13 million people to change their plans. they will most likely have to change their plans if they upgrade phones at 2 yr promo pricing, but they will get unlimited IN calling to 80 MILLION people if they switch.

Unlimited calling plans may become cheaper in the long run. That will eliminate the need for my cirle. The reason I think unlimited calling plans will be cheaper is that VZW data services will be far reaching. That is where VZW or any wireless will make it's money in the long run anyway.

Who cares about 80 million people if that is not who you talk to? My Circle was a great feature.

Its nice to see that somebody did not drink the Kool-Aid and can speak the truth. The really bad thing for Alltel customers is that most of the service areas are rural, and so customers will in many cases have no choice but to join the cult, so why would Verizon not raise rates and force the inferior plans on people? This is why I hope the FCC will intervene.
