Verizon Palm Centro...June 13th for $200???

Hey whats up everybody, I thought this info that was posted on engadget might interest those of you looking at picking up the centro.

QUOTED ARTICLE:

We hope beyond hope that there's a typo here or some sort of magical bonus discount that'll be applied at the cash register, because documents coming out of Verizon at this point seem to indicate that Centro buyers will be paying a whopping $269.99 before $70 mail-in rebate when the device supposedly hits all retail channels next Friday, June 13. Sprint's version was just a single Benjamin many months ago, so we really don't see how Verizon can justify this kind of coin. Unless there's like a $100 bill in the battery compartment of every phone, we guess.

I actually have both phones right now. The Centro isn't as bad as I thought but no where near the glory of the Curve. You are an idiot.

I'd bet that is also pre advanced device credit, which would be an extra $100 off at P.O.S., assuming that the purchaser signs up for a data package.

yeah that would make sense. I hope they don't try to get $200 for this thing. That would be a bit ridiculous for a Palm centro.

Not only the data credit, what about the NE2 credit as well?

Looks like a good phone for the price.

It is an OK phone. It is small and does alot. But it is just a 755p in a smaller body.

That aside, it sells like crazy. I work at for Sprint and we can barely keep these in stock. Now people can finally get their hands on a simple, easy to use smart phone for what a good camera phone used to go for.

Just hope that no one with big hands wants to buy it. They're not gonna be happy.

We were at a training a couple months back and the Palm rep thought it would be priced around $100 or so. Of course, if you factor in an advanced device credit, that might be about right.

Not to bash palm or anything but do you guys think they can ever come out with something new for its operating system? Seriously is the same boring icon on white screen that its always been. Why cant we put an image behind it?....sigh...oh well

Palm is working on a totally redesigned OS right now. Hopefully it will be out sometime in early 2009. Maybe even late 2008.

Thats good! Im glad to hear they are coming out with something new. It was funny when the 755p came out and someone asked me what the difference was between the 700 and the 755. I said the 755p didn't have the giant antenna at the top.

....and you were dead on! That was really the only difference. Kind of pathetic. Hopefully their next OS will be some sort of huge break through
