Verizon buyout of Alltel speculation.

Ok. Seriously. Come on. The buyout of alltel by Verizon was just announce a few weeks ago. Tons of details are being hammered out. Nowhere is it said by an official source that the "My Circle" plans are going to go away when the purchase is complete.

It is safe to say that a majority of people on alltel are on the my circle plans. They are great plans. Why would Verizon alienate them? It does not make business sense. Yes, Verizon is in it for the money since they are a business, but I am sure, worst case scenario, they will grandfather the exsisting customers so they can keep it as long as they want.

Today Verizon announced a type of my circle for their small business customers. I read this as a precursor to a company wide roll o...

I agree but logic is of no use to the trolls.

Valid points. Plus we have to give ATT time to change their billing system so that they can copy VZW when the launch the plans. It's the way the industry works.

I have heard that Verizon has a history of forcing customers of carriers they acquire to switch to a Verizon plan, but those carriers had 400-500,000 customers. Alltel has 13 MILLION. There's no way Verizon would risk alienating all those customers. I have confidence that Alltel customers will be grandfathered in, and My Circle will show up in some form in Verizon's offerings.

Don't bet on it. Verizon belives most customers anyone would want to call are already IN the 80 million strong "circle of trust....."

The rest don't matter...Watch and learn.

The problem is in alot of areas, with Altel gone, the cult is the only choice, so unless the FCC kicks in they can do whatever they want.

The cult? Why does everyone hate VZW so badly? I think there is a lot of jealousy. VZW is the best, everyone knows it, so they get defensive.

I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the year VZW offers a choice between a "circle" or in network calling ... maybe even an added charge to have both.

It's too early to tell, but I think you're right about that. Maybe they'll do something like T-Mobile where you can even purchase additional numbers as an extra feature for 10-15 dollars a month.

I highly doubt Verizon is as stupid as some make them out to be. They'll likely, at the very least grandfather the My Circle plans in, or do the aforementioned and enhance the billing system to integrate My Circle as a plan choice. They don't keep those millions of customers from being stupid.

How can mobile-to-mobile calling POSSIBLY be equated to unlimited calling to anybody you want? Mobile-to-mobile is no big deal, every carrier has that. Hell, AT&T even lets their customers call AT&T landlines free, which is more than what Verizon can say. But NOTHING beats being able to call anyone you want, anytime, no matter who their carrier is, for free.

Now it is time for everyone who is in a panic to step back take a deep breath, or Valium, and calm down. Nothing is set in stone and it helps no one to speculate and start rumors.

One thing is indeed set in Stone. Alltel users will pay more for less than what they currently have......BEt on it.
