Here's a real topic that actually needs an answer

So the 5800, 6800, and the MOT Q's PDA data plans dropped to 29.99 ("internet & email plan", right?)

So I'm asking this question because I have yet to see any further info on this topic at work:

Has the $30 plan been expanded to any other non-blackberry pda yet?

Engadget says the Palm Centro (which launches tomorrow-- all channels) will be able to be put on the $30 plan. Like I said, I haven't seen any announcements of this at work, so I was wondering if anybody has any concrete answer.

It'd be great to:

A) Sell an affordable PDA
B) Consumer-friendly price point for the data plan

On the contrary:
A) It's still a PALM device...yeck.
B) The Curve is a rock star.

Thanks in advance for any non-BS answers. 👀

This is kind of only half an answer to your question, but anyway...

Backwards compatibility is a little tricky on the current PDAs because the new $30 plan handles email differently than the old ones. Expect most new releases to be compatible as time goes on, but I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for them to expand the new plan to current models.

Hope that helps. 😉

So does anybody think that Engadget was correct in stating that the Palm Centro is compatible with the $30 internet & email data plan?

My email box is loaded up with "Palm Centro Launch" emails, maybe I'll read them after my lunch is over and see if the answer is there. 🙂

Thanks for the insight though.

I got the same email, along with those crazy webinars Had the "EOD" one this morning..but yeah I do believe the new CENTRO can be on the 29.99 web/email for PDA plan, I tried to do an older PDA and the plan was NOT available so I believe that it'll only be with what is listed now, and any future NON BB devices that come out, since the BB has the 29.99 web/email plan as well.

Yes, the Centro will be compatible with the 29.99 plan for sure. The only thing is, phone has the same boring Palm OS and the internet is really slow.

Thanks for your reply. I got the answer from our districts data sales consultant.

I gave him feedback that we should be told this already prior/upon launch. Hopefully communication will be better next time. 🙂
