need more detail....
Do you need instant email access?
Do you use mac or windows?
Can you afford the $30 data plan?
How important is size?
...
Instant email would be ok but not necessary.
I have Vista on my laptop.
$30.00 is cool.
I like the size of the Curve and the Centro.
Thanks for the help......
...
the curve should be a better all around performer versus the centro and I think the addition of push email on the curve would be a very nice.
I have not used a centro, but I have played around with the sprint version and its not bad. The keyboard is really cramped tho.
The palm OS is also a little outdated these days, its still a workhorse, but you will prolly experience more crashes and resets vs. the curve.
If you dont mind paying for the data plan, I would go with the curve over the centro. I think you will get more for your money and the BB will do a great job of keeping you organized.

personal preference, but i think the blackberries are the easiest to pick up and learn for first timers. Full Windows phones can be a little over whelming for 1st timers.
...
Personally I love the Blackberry devices. They aren't perfect, but I'll take a phone that performs well 99.9% of the time over anything else.
With mine I don't have to reset it at all (haven't had to yet). I also loaded up my microSD card with 3gp videos (tv shows, movies) and my music. There's tons of cool software, themes, ringtones, etc for it. Blackberry messenger is sweet too if you know others with blackberry. Seriously, there is a reason they go by the nickname "crackberry".

I agree, I'm addicted! I have also sucked my mom into the addiction and my dad, unfortunately for him he can't use a BB with his employer (he is obsessed with my mom's). He currently has a 700wx and hates it and not just because of window's mobile being so horrible the call quality is so bad he had to get a personal line on my mom's account.
Get the blackberry. You know the saying does go "Once you go black(berry) you never go back"... truer words have never been spoken...

blackberry curve.
no doubt, easy to use and powerful. I think its the best smart phone for everyone including first timers.

After much research and thought I have decided to stay with Verizon and not switch to Sprint. Since I want to replace my Razr V3M (abysmal battery life) I have also been considering the Centro and BB 8330. Here are my thoughts on the two phones.
Centro - Minuses
-Slower
-Dated operating system
-No stereo bluetooth
-Only can accomodate a 4GB memory card
-No flash for the camera
-Only 1.3 Megapixel camera
-Uses Versa Mail to sync mail not as seemless as blackberry push technology
-Small, cramped, and cheap looking keyboard
-Thick form factor
-Looks cheaply made plastic compared to Palm Treo
-Have to remove battery cover to access side memory card slot
-Blazer web browser
Centro - Pluses
-Easy to use operating system...

since you decided to identify yourself as a republican on this forum about phones.
I have to ask myself, who will you vote for this year when there is no real republican on the ticket?
John mccain is a NeoCon, which is not a conservative and is not really what the republican party has always stood for.
the only real republican in the race was Ron Paul, who has since suspended his campaign.
who do you vote for when faced the option of a war mongering neocon vs a liberal democrat? Im curious to know.
...
Ok let me get this straight I'm not a Republican, but a Democrat but that really doesn't matter. Since the democrats seem to screw things up I'm afraid the next president of the United States is John McCain. Ok now back to the phones.
...
You can still write in Ron Paul. It might be our only hope.... 😁

btw great list, curve is awesome I have used both. I have the palm centro at my house right now and Have had it for about a week. Its not bad but I found myself wanting to turn it in and get a curve becuse the curve is so much easier to use.
...
Thanks I just have experience with both. My comments were pretty complete just I hope it helps others. It really depends on what your needs are. But with the exception of being able to edit Word and Excel, I believe the blackberry is a superior product. Just my two cents and no they not Lincoln pennies, the first Republican.
...
Are you sure its only 8gb for the memory space. I know that Sprint offers the same blackberry only the blackberry they offer is capable of a 32gb card. They have not come out in America yet but they will soon
...
Yes I am sure. Maybe that is for the bold but that will not see the light of day until at least September.
...
Thank you 🙂 That was a good comparison!!!
...
My opinion for a first time user would be the curve. Its an easy to use interface and the email is supurb. And I'd suggest gettin opera mini which is what I'm postin from now and you would have a supurb browser. If you don't like the ui of the bb lineup go with a moto q. I used to have one and I loved it. But check out the curve it hopefully will suite your needs.
