Not sure if the words "new" and "local plans" fit together... Don't really see it happening, but dunno... ::shrug::

Basically, they called the family plan and national plan changes about a week before the fact, but have been wrong about the local plans changing so far. At least for the Western region.

I did actually read that post. Quite some time ago. The America's Choice plans I had caught wind of by another means. But, I haven't heard anything about local plans. My understanding is that VzW wants to eliminate, or at least shy away from, the local plans. I can see possibly some new plans getting activated for Local Digital Choice plans, but I ...

Same here Steve. I'm based out of the NorthEast region as well. Being so clustered with states, I can honestly say that I am GLAD to not have the local plans.

Heck I don't even mention them or even have the brochures on the floor. I'd rather sell a AC plan. We have alot of customers that travel to New York state, City, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusettes, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Jersy from here.

If I sold a LDC I'd make my customers VERY unhappy.

Wow... I have a question. It seems you would like a local plan. WHY?!?! It makes no sense to me... I mean, I just really don't understand it. Someone please answer me what in the hll is the point of a national carrier such as VzW (or Cingular, whatever) offering a local plan. Why would consumers want that?

Its pretty simple... out here in Cali the $39.99 level of the national VZW plan gives you 450 anytime minutes. Meanwhile, the Local Digital Choice promotion gives you 600.

Also, out West, the states are large enough that having a local plan that covers only your own state or maybe your state and the next one over gives you a geographically HUGE local area to call from. Its not like ...

Thats probably all true Jake. In the NE, i have yet to go anywhere that i was roaming on my AC plan, and i travel a lot. I dont think the local plans do well here since the AC coverage area is *so* dense.

I've also heard (and this is the part I'm shaky on) that there is a different set of partner agreements for the local and national plans, such that coverage within your local calling area tends to be slightly BETTER with the local plans, and you're less likely to be roaming there as well... as in, the same spot within your local area that would be roaming with America's Choice sometimes isn't roaming with Local Digital Choice.

Any confirmation/denial/info on that last point would be welcome. 🙂

Well, I can't say anything for sure on that. My first reaction would be to reject the possibility. What I do know is that *occasionally* (and I mean DAMN rarely) a newer version of the ...
