Question for AvgJoe
If all carriers in the U.S. had the ability for you to use your unlocked Nokia, who would you choose?
AvgJoe is anything but an Average Joe. He is primarily concerned with the data/web uses of his handset and cares very little for actually talking on his phone. Read more of his recent posts and you'll see this. Very, very few Americans approach their wireless service from the same perspective that he does.
Why bother asking him? He wants the best handset he can find, then he'll hook it up with whoever will give him the cheapest web access.
People wanting different things out of their mobile service just makes the carriers compete fiercer and fiercer to break into niche markets like the AvgJoes out there. It's best for all of us that there are different strokes for different folks out there driving the quality of service up and the cost of service down.

I forgot to mention that there's nothing wrong with what he's looking for in a carrier. If you don't care much about the quality of your voice service and a Cricket/ MetroPCS coverage map is good enough for you, then go for it.

Exactly. Its the hardware first for me. It wasn't always that way though. Years ago there were huge differences in coverage and quality between...

By reading his posts, I can draw the same conclusion as you have, but if he could use his handset on ANY carrier unlocked?? Now that one might just make him think.
I do appreciate you thoughts on the matter. 🙂
Joe is looking a flat rate data plan with no strings attached.

Sprint because I would get more for the money. And Sprint works well where I travel and better than ATT in the area where where my home is.
Customer Service
Massive coverage
Call fidelity
mean nothing if a phone works where I need it to most of the time. Thens its all about the hardware and the expense.
I just laid out another $550 for an N95-4. I would love for that phone to be on the Sprint Network.
All things otherwise being equal,. Sprint may be the winner on the cost front.

I get so confused... you want sprint service, you carry at&t but yet you spend all your time in the Verizon forum.. did the Verizon guy beat you up when you were a kid or something?
LOL I never gave Verizon a chance to beat me up. I see how they do that to their customer's pocketbooks. I could not care less about never dropping a call or crystal clear voice quality...LOL I do care about choices, freedom from charges for simple transfers, and flexibility in how I use the network and which phone I choose to out on the network.....Yeah its worth a few redials now and then.
And thank you for not turning this question into a VZW bashing event. 😁

Thank you for your answer. The reason I asked you is that I have noticed from your posts that you really don't like ATT and don't get very good coverage in your home area near Myrtle Beach. Who knows, you may actually be able to choose your carrier in the future. Although, unless Sprint stops bleeding, they may not be there for you.

Im not in love with ATT or any CArrier. I believe they should NOT be in the hardware business. I belive they should be like landline carriers.
ATT is far from perefect but for my needs and my choice of hardware they are the best choice. And yes I have said it before I could care le...
