How many think Verizon will re invent the definition of "Open Source in the same manner they did with "Blue Tooth Technology"

Raise your hands!!!

How can Verizon learn from mistakes they never make?

They will not make a mistake like they did with the V710! They will be very clear on what is being offered even if it's BS!

You guys really reach and have no understanding of your competition. You prove it day after day,

Ah but the difference is the CARRIER is not crippling the phone. The manufacturer (in this case Apple)decided not to include the BT profiles. Perhaps becasue they planned on offering it to VErizon first?

In Verizon's case VERIZON actually requests the manufacturer cripple the phones. ATT has no reason to do so. Data is paid for already!!!

iPhone Does Not Support:

Indeed but the implication was clear. You cannot seperate iPhone from ATT dummy!!!

ATT did not tell Apple how to build or what to put on the phone. Apple initially designed the phone for Verizon hence limited BT. ATT has NEVER limited any phones features for profit purposes.

No Joe...you do this all the time..twist my posts and others into stuff they are not to create an argument. I could care less about at&t, i could care less about other carriers in general If they work for you then great..I was just pointing out that the Iphone is cripled and many trolls that come in here bashing Verizon's BT policy are the same idiots that come in here saying we have the Iphone and Verizon sucks..Just annoys me in this forum

yea they were making it for VZW. VZW turned them down. now they have to go from CDMA to GSM. they could have just as easily "uncrippled" the BT as well.

serisouly, if you are too damn lazy to fix features once one company turns your product down, then you dont deservce to be in business. thats laziness and bad business practice. yet there are millions that dont care, only because its an iphone. if it was any other phone, people would be up in arms.
its the new blackberry. people just have to have it to be cool like everyone else 🙄

Blame Apple. Thats not ATT's call. With UL data, full BT implementation would not cost ATT a penny. But Apple has as many Kool-Aid drinkers as Verizon....

Which phones are they? Inquiring minds want to know what phone ATT crippled and certainly having been with ATT from the get go I would love to see ATT's GUI.

It was Apples decision, not ATT to disinclude many BT features.
ATT does not tell phone companies how to make their phones or what the GUI should look like...

You even differentiated them yourself... "dummy"

so basically the iphone has less bluetooth functionality than the newer VZW phones. yay apple. and dont blame this on VZW. i'm sure they could have added those profiles easily after VZW turned them down. no strike that. they def could have added them. they went from CDMA to GSM, so adding functional bluetooth would just be a drop in the bucket

🤣

There are positions within all cellular companies that deal directly with manufacturers in specifications, including AT&T. In fact, when I worked with AT&T/Cingular about 4 years ago I knew the guy that dealt directly with Sony Ericsson. His entire job was to do market research and work with other AT&T employees to decide what specifications to request from the manufacturers. The manufacturers than created many different models that varied slightly from the requests (some extras added, some requests removed) and his coworkers (the buyers), working with him, would decide which phones to pick up.

So, are you saying AT&T doesn't have employees to deal with the manufacturers anymore? I guess they must only sell unlocked handsets the...

What phones are crippled? My env wasn't, my Sammy u740 wasn't, my Treo's weren't. I know for a fact that the Venus, the Voyager, the Gleam, the env2, the Dare, and the Decoy aren't either. And neither are the latest set of Blackberries either.

I still can't believe you lack so much of a social life to come here and harp continously. Out of everyone here, you are one of the most common posters. Stick to HoFo.

Uh Duh Data package smart phones phones are not crippled....WOW WHAT A CONCEPT...Are you guys that ignorant of the workings of wireless technology?

This is why ATT had no involvement with Apples BT functionality . You HAVE to buy a data plan which covers all downloads!!! So wher...
