Goon?
Maybe I said it wrong...Ok- every employee is responsible for retention and VZW has Winback dept as well. It usually falls in the hands of Cust Serv. But why do you have to call people names?

If you don't want to be a goon, then don't give wrong info if you don't know the answer. And no, we don't have a "winback" dept

You should take your own advice! There is a WINBack department in the Northeast. Maybe you are located somewhere else?

There's a winback department, although I'm pretty sure that it only deals with people who port back in from another carrier after only a short period of time of being away from VZW, as well as people whose accounts were written off and turned over to collection agencies. I'm not 100% sure, though.

Anyway, really, why do people need to contact a "retention" department? I'm sorry, but it just comes off as ridiculous to me. It really just strikes me as something that desperate people use. I've been a customer since either 2002 or 2003, and I've never once expected anything that wasn't already marketed to the general public from VZW.

To be fair, I'm also an employee (but only for about a year so far). Still, I get these calls during which people start off with the "I've been a customer for a long time..." and look at their original account date, seeing a date in 2006 or something. I just think, "Really, I've got you beaten by several years, and I'd never make such calls to customer service."

There is no specific retention department. Customer service has things that they can offer to try and keep a customer from disconnecting.

We do have a winback department (could depend on your area). This department tries to get customers to come back within a few days after porting to another carrier. They offer things for your coming back as well (usually with a new 1 year agreement).
