Who has the fastest data network?

Who has the fastest data network in Orange County, CA? VZW or Sprint?

I am currently on VZW for my data card (month-to-month) and cell phone. Cell phone service is GREAT, but the data card speed is low (it's an old EVDO card...and it is dying).

I want to get a USB data device, and I am trying to decide whether to stay with VZW for data or switch to Sprint. My wife has Sprint cell service with no problems here.

So, how good is Sprint data vs. VZW data in Orange County, CA?

Thank you!

That is a good question. They should be the same IN THEORY. You should try upgrading your usb card to a Rev A card and see what you think then. Your speeds will be better than what they have been with your old card. Remember you do have the 30 day trial on it too. Thats what I would do. In MN I know that my Verizon card is about 100-160kbs faster than a current Sprint card. The speed of the device varies alot on conditions of the area, load being put on the tower, and many other factors. I would try the new card and see what you think then make your decision based on that.

Hi!

I tried Sprint data about six months ago here in Orange County, CA, on the Ovation U727 USB device, and it was just as slow as my VZW EVDO (not Rev A) device.

I just looked at the coverage maps that each provider has (VZW and Sprint), and I don't see why Sprint claims to have the largest data network.

Does anyone have comments on whose nationwide coverage is better, but primarily in Orange County, CA?

Sprint really doesnt have the largest network. I have heard that all companies have the largest whatever.

The coverage maps are not really close as far as Orange County. I would say that Verizon is going to be a better bet. IMO mind you. Just from what I know and the people that I know in CA that have Verizon they are very happy with the service. Its up to you really. I would try upgrading your card first.

they reason that you are so slow is your card if you were to upgrade to the usb 727 or something like that you are going to have REV-A not REV 0 VZW is faster then sprint

I tried the U727 on Sprint about six months ago and it was barely faster than my old VZW non-Rev A EVDO card.

I am not sure if your comment was regarding VZW Rev A vs. Sprint basic EVDO. Are VZW and Sprint's Rev A networks the same speed, or is VZW's Rev A faster than Sprint's Rev A?

I am looking at the Sprint Compass 597 by Sierra Wireless vs. one of VZW's USB devices.
