Deposit?

My coworker recently signed up with Sprint. She said that she applied for VZW service but she couldn't get it??? She didn't tell me why but Im assuming that the deposit was really high and she just didn't want to pay it which is understandable. Do you guys really turn people away because they have whack credit? I thought the whack credit was the reason for charging a deposit. I thought potential customers were only turned away if they are underage or if they had an old acct with a balance? Question, what is the deposit range for VZW? I was told it ranges from $125-$400 but in another forum a lady said that her friend was told she would have to put down $500/line! 😲

ive heard from 400-600

whats the use of $125 deposit? That sounds a little low, that will barely cover one month of defaulted payments!

What does the deposit goes toward? And is it refunded after a year?

I am trying to decide between at&t sprint and vzw as well. Had sprint in the past with no issues. I have never had vzw but I know some people who are really happy with their service.

It's $125 and $400 currently. Returned after 12 consecutive, ON TIME monthly payments with 3% interest. Customers are never turned away, but they may have to pay a deposit if they don't have quality/sufficient credit history. BTW, I would never turn away an underage customer. I would however make that kid want the phone so damn bad that he/she drags their parents to buy it for them.

you can either have no deposit

$125 deposit or

$400 deposit

and your right we do not turn customers away unless they are underage and have another account with a balance and even then if they pay that balance off they can start another account!

Also with the deposit you do get it back in under a year as long as you don't have any reversed payments nor suspension in service due to non-payment.

If you do not qualify after the year mark they will auto review your account every 90 days to check your eligibility to receive the deposit back.

VZWrep19 was right on with what he said. And yes, after 12 months of timely payments you can request your deposit back, with 3% interest! The best part is that its not just applied to the account, you recieve a check in the mail so that money can go to whatever you need it to, not just your VZW account.

I heard from someone that with at&t they apply it to your account. It is good to know that with VZW you get the $$$$ back. Also, this is kinda off subject, but how good is VZW tech department? I was looking at getting a BB Curve with whateva carrier I decide to go with but I know I am going to need some help 🙂 and I heard that VZW had an excellent tech dept. Thanks

You also do get interest back on the deposit, but it DOES get applied to your account first, if there is a balance. If there is any remaining after it's been applied to your current balance you will receive the refund in the form of a check to the billing address they have on file.

If you have no balance on the acct at the time of the refund you will receive the full refund in the form of a check.

When I activated my line with Verizon, I had a $125 deposit, that was a year ago. They gave me it back with interest after a year of service. I've had customers have $400 deposit, I haven't seen a $500 deposit as of yet.

I think at&t are the only people that charge $500.00 for a deposit.

$500 is just nuts. I mean $400 is alot, but I have customers drop it when they do. I'm like wow, I could just not see myself giving up that much money for a cell phone.

One customer of mine, owed $500, had to put down a $400 deposit and than bought a PDA. I was like whoa

I had a customer here last week who told me he needed a $750 deposit from AT&T.
I'm under the assumption that he was looking for more than one line.

That is a lot of freakn money. I don't understnd why AT&T charges so much. Its just a phone. I am hoping that is for more than one line of service. Anywho, I made up my mind. At the end of the year around Xmas I will probably go ahead and port my number to VZW. City employees get a 17% discount with VZW. 🤤

At GAP INC, we can get 20% discount with VZW and 17% with at&t. I am looking to make the jump in September.

OMG 🙂 that sounds like what I am thinking about doing... at&t use to be my carrier. They messed up my bill and I did not pay them so they canceled my service and slapped me with the ETF. So then when I called them to see how much it would be to get my service back, they said the deposit would be $500.00. I said what the hell!!!! 🙂 For VZW it is $400.00 and I am thinking about getting the new pink curve when it comes out. I cant believe I would pay $400.00 but it is better than $500.00 🙂 plus I would get 20% off my monthly bill because of my job 🙂 I still owe at&t $549 but I am wondering once I pay them off would my deposit be cheaper 🙂

I don't know how AT&T works but usually your deposit is higher.

The guys that activated with me, said they when he first activated with Verizon he didn't have a deposit, but when he paid off the balance, he had a deposit.

You are right, the $400 would be better than $500

Yes and so is the customer service. I hated going into the at&t store in my hometown. I would go 30 minutes away to the next town over to deal with that store. Those people thought they was the s*** and had some nasty a** attitudes but the few times I have called VZW to inquire about service they were very nice and helpful.

It is better. You're going to have your trolls and people that just want to bad mouth Verzion just because.

I had AT&T and I hated AT&T. I could barely get service and customer service was not all that great.

I ported from Sprint to Verizon, Sprint is just horrible. Customer service will argue with you, when you are experiencing problems with your service. Plus they will drop 25 of your 30 calls placed in one day.

Verizon isn't the cheapest but their customer service is great, compared to other companies I have tested or been with. My call quality is superior, and I have no complaints.

So I was wondering, what is the basis of the $125 and the $400 deposits? I owe att and I am wondering if once I pay them off, if my deposit would go down?
