It was 1.3m this time last year. So VZW beat year over year growth between 2007 & 2008 Q2 comparisons.

Actually they were out of the old iPhone for most of May and June and the new one launched in the next quarter, outside these results.

Curious though, why did Verizon jump the gun on announcing their numbers? They almost always announce everything at the same time.

They usually announce their numbers later in the month and almost never like this. They issued a "preview" basically of what their wireless numbers will be when they announce the rest on the 28th.

In the past Verizon would announce all their numbers at the same time, wireless, wireless, HSI, FIOS, etc.

ATT does ridiculous prepaid numbers. I think that's how they added subs without that device.

You know what's funny, I can't name another device that ATT offers other than the yphone.

I can name tmobile and sprint devices.

Interesting. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I'm not an ATT fan but I don't think their network totally stinks. I dated someone that had cingular in my area and I ended up having to get her a phone with my service.

verizon usually announces their numbers a week or two after cingular/at&t... they probably knew they had a solid quarter and wanted to take some of the spotlight away from at&t.

I wonder what that number is when iPhone users are subtracted? For myself, ATT coverage is completely unacceptable but the iPhone is one the coolest pieces of technology I have ever played with.

I played with the iphone. and the Samsung instinct. I don't like devices that are all touch screen.

I want an updated voyager that has the ui and web browser that apples has on the yphone. Then I'll be extremely happy.

It's 200k more than last year, although last year was hurt by the MVNO shutting down....amp'd I think it was called. Pretty even year over year which is good when you consider the state of the economy.
