Just got my G'zOne Boulder in the mail, replacing the LG VX8300 which served me quite well but for the fact it's falling to pieces right as I was up for NE2. (I think they plan it that way, and I don't like that).
This thing seems solid. I wish it had Word instead of T9Word, because I think with the former, which was on the 8300, it was easier to "teach" it new words.
Questions:
1. Does anyone know how to unlock the stock photos, pics and wallpapers it comes with so I can delete them? I have a thing for clearing useless crap off phones when I get them.
2. I read somewhere this thing has a flashlight feature (I assume it uses the camera flash?). Anyone know how to use this?
3. Haven't had much luck with the compass. I had thoug...

I'm not sure there even in this flashlight feature that's been talked about so much. Nor am I certain you can view the external screen as a compass. Again, still tinkering, but perhaps Verizon has disabled some things...
Only gripe so far tonight (Day 1) is that the earpiece sound is a bit muddier than the 8300 I just stopped using.

It has a flashlight. You see that little light bulb symbol directly to the right of the directional key pad, just push and hold it. And if you press and hold the mode key you will can view your compass from the outside screen.

Which is the "mode" key?
Thanks for the flashlight tip -- the booklet doesn't describe that. (Speaking of which, instruction manuals keep getting worse and worse.)
Still bugged about the ringer problem though. Maybe they'll make a software patch?

the mode key is right below the volume keys on the side 🙂

There are 3 separate buttons on the left side of your phone. The Mode button is the third one down. With the phone closed HOLD it down and the compass will launch.
I don't have the ring tone problem, you should have that swapped out.
...
Can't switch ringtone! I've gone to the Sounds Settings, Call Sounds, Call Ringtone and switched it, several times, but each time it rings, it's the original (annoying) song tone.
This will be a major problem for me. Did they ship this too early, or can they patch the problem at a Verizon store? Am I screwed here?

I have hd the same issue. did you use back up ast to restore your contacts? what I have done was removed some of my contacts and manually re-entered them into the the phone tested and that seemed to work for it to ring for the custom tone I choose
this seems to be software related with the back up program as my friend had same issue
...
I did instantly use backup asst. So should I remove a few contacts?
...
Try deleting all your contacts and manually restoring them. I can't see how just removing a random few will fix it. Test the theory and remove them all. A pain yes but maybe it will fix it. shrug.
...
Can we make Verizon aware of this? I hate not to be able to use the backup assistant, and I'm hoping I didn't get this phone too early before they could work out the kinks.
I cannot stand the default Verizon ringtone.
...
I would just go to a corp store and swap it. There will be patches but not for a long time, just get a new one.
...
VZW's already aware of the issue.
...
My fault what I meant was that I deleted the contacts that call me most and then re added them and that fixed my ringtone issue for those contacts, however when my mother calls me its still the default vzw tone, (she don't call me much) and any other contact that I didn't delete

It's just annoying. They shouldn't have this problem. It should've been worked out before they released it. I could've waited another month.
Annoying.
