Okay here we go..

I am certainly a power user. I have owned every pohne on the Verizon Network and spent my career with AT&T in Network Design. Does that make me an Expert ? Not sure, but I know my stuff !

I bought the LG8000 and the 890 to test both.

The 890 is awesome !

The Audiovox 8940 is a disaster. The first thing you must look at in a phone is simply the Voice Quality. The D/A convertors in the Audiovox which are the little devices that convert your voice to digital and back are horrible. The voice quality on the 8940 is almost unusable. People who are used to having low quality conversation might be okay with it but if you have owned a samsung you know what good voice quality is.
Also the 8940 speakerphone is horribly lo...

There are 2 HUGE problems with the samsung, though. It does NOT have a speakerphone and it takes forever for the camera function to load once you press the button. The 8000 loads in half the time.

And without a speakerphone, the sound quality of the V-Cast videos can not be anywhere close to the sound quality of the 8000.

Plus there is significantly less memory on the samsung, isn't there? I'm not sure, but everything I have read says there is only 14MB on the samsung. Is this true?

Y'know, for the life of me, I just cannot figure why Samsung hates speakerphones so much. ☚ī¸

I think it definitely hurts the appeal of their products, and the lack of one is about the only thing I dislike about my Samsung 530s.

YES! The 530s rocks. Thats the phone i have. I agree it could definitely use a speakerphone on it, but its SUPER small and doesn't have all the bells and whistles, which i dont need imo. Plus a 999 phonebook! Woot! đŸ¤Ŗ

Yeah, and the voice quality is very good too, as is the RF. Seems to be fairly durable too... I've flat dropped mine (fumblelaya) and didn't hurt it.

Nice phone. Woot! 🙂

I don't consider the fact the LG doesn't have a speakerphone to be a disaster. A speakerphone is nice to have, of course...but I don't consider it to be a huge problem. Now...with that in mind, you DO nee...

What is with everyone wanting such a small phone for??? Last time I was in London it seemed like a small phone fest, People talking with a phone that was literally three inches. This is America, bigger is better!!! There is nothing worse than holding a phone that feels like it's about to snap in half. Say can you use that new Moto Razr phone as a toothpick, thin phones are soo cool. I still have an antique Moto T-720 and it feels small and flimsy. I would rather have a phone that can last 90,000 minutes and work than a toothpick with buttons so close that you press two or three keys at a time. I am looking at the LG8000 for my next phone and it does fit in a pocket quite well. I have also heard that the LG phones have a better qualit...

Actually the Samsung has 50 MB vs 40 MB for the 8000 and the 8940....

I've been usin the 8940 and I think that the sound quality is very good... also I like that put in a 256 MB SD card and listen to mp3's...

I think the mini review is good cept for one thing... I think you got a bad Vox... I've been using one and it is the dogs ballocks (ie very good) of verizon phones... for the cash that is. The camera is pretty good... but I really like that it has a mini SD slot... when the phone is closed ya press the button on the outside and if ya got tunes on your sd card, it works as a mp3 playa. The speakerphone bit is ok... I personally don't ever use it so its not a big deal to me. I also used the 8000 and 890... the screen on the 890 is brite and clear... very nice and the buttons are good and it has a good shape... the LG reminds me of my old Nokia Communicators... the 9000 series... I'm on the fence wit da 8000... I'm not against larger phones....
