I am so effing happy that this deal is done now! As of yesterday the FCC finally got off their asses and approved this! Thank god! Now its time to move to more markets and dominate! 😈 I just really hope that they dont take this long for Alltel. It doesnt seem that they will be taking this long though from what I have read at the FCC.

Do you have any info on what areas will be divested? Also do you know if in areas where there will be overlap with Alltel and RCC will VZW have the option to take the Alltel portion instead of RCC since the RCC is completed first? Southwest MN is all Alltel and Unicel (RCC). Unicel is horrible for reception but Alltel is really good, it would be beneficial for VZW to have Alltel in that area instead of Unicel.

And the big question... When will the "switch over" to VZW actually take place (for customers)? I'm sure that is still a little ways away.

Yes. The areas that Verizon had to divest are as follows.

CMA248 Burlington, Vermont
CMA560 New York 2 - Franklin
CMA679 Vermont 1 - Franklin
CMA680 Vermont 2 - Addison
CMA694 Washington 2 - Okanogan
CMA695 Washington 3 - Ferry

As far as the areas that overlap in MN I see that none of the areas there have been given up. I am sure that when the Alltel and Verizon merger,if it happens, goes through they will be either taking over towers in the area or just building new towers. I know for a fact that a local tower company here has been contacted by Verizon stating that they whould have enough men to build and provide maintnence for the "new" markets in MN.

You are correct that Unicel does have kind of bad...
