Text input; some versions much better...

The LG 8300 I had used a Word text input mode that learned new vocabulary simply by you using the word, and it was predictive, so that the next time you wanted to text someone that long email address, usually it would be an option after a couple of key taps by cycling through the choice with the zero key.

I noticed on the Boulder (which is going back) that it has a T9 mode that is very tedious; you have to switch back into ABC to "teach" it words, and it's not predictive, so that you have to enter the entire word you wish.

Is this because LG owns rights to the other mode? It seems like a step backward to use this T9. How do I find out which phones have text input similar to the LG 8300?
