Question about returns

I am going to return this Boulder I've griped about for two weeks, but I have a question. It costs $20 to mail it back and swap out with a different model.

Is this $20 deducted from the difference in cost between two phones? I.e. if I wanted the Adventure and it's $30 cheaper, do I get a $10 credit?

Also, I've heard there is no charge if I simply send it back, then I get my NE2 credit back and such. If this is true, can't I just send it back, then a week later order a different phone and hence avoid the $20 fee?

The $20 Device Initiation Fee is a fee on top of all others...there is no deducting it from the cost of other things. To exchange the phone, the $20 is charged due to the fact that your phone that you are returning is useless to Verizon Wireless now....until it's wiped clean (physically and in the memory) and turned into a warranty replacement device.

You'll still end up getting charged. While there may be a loophole sometimes...Verizon isn't stupid...things are tracked.

That's what I thought.

I wish they'd make some kind of exception for the Boulder, however, as it really sounds like crap. I'll end up paying the $20 though.

if you got it online or over the phone you should be able to bring it to a corporate store to exchange/return it. but indirectly we charge a restock fee, but not on faulty equipment

if you call cs(*611) or go to vzw.com and find the store locator. it will only show corporate stores, and you can choose to see retailers. but the ones it shows are corporate or the ones cs tells you about is corporate

tell me about your concerns with the bouldar. i work in a corporate store and have seen a few more returns on these devices than i would like.

the main reasons for bouldar returns at my store are:
audio issues - earpiece is distorted and crackly. issue is corrected by turning down volume but defeats purpose of using the phone for outdoor work when you cant hear the person on the other end.
battery life - cant make it through the day on full charge.

The audio is both distorted and muffled; turning volume down only solves the crackle, but I still have just as hard of a time understanding people.

Battery life is abysmal. You're correct. It doesn't last an entire day on a single charge.

The interface (even with the latest software patch) is sluggish and glitchy.

The keys are too flat and indistinct. The simple nonpredictive T9 text entry, also, makes it a pain by having to enter entire long words instead of just the first series of letters and cycling through choices.

I'm actually glad to hear many others are returning this phone. Perhaps it'll prompt Casio to produce a better updated one.

thanks, chappie.

those seem to be pretty standard reasons for return for this phone. you're most certainly not the only one. i just got off work and had several of the same issues you've discribed come back with the bouldar today.

One more returns question. I've got the phone boxed up with its parts and everything else that came in the larger FedEx box... is the return FedEx label enough as far as ID numbers etc? I'm keeping the customer rect. copies on my end.
