Futuredated Port Out
As of August 10th when a customer ports out their # to another carrier the service on VZW is suspended (with billing) until the end of the billing cycle. There is a way to disconnect the service on demand, but the customer would have to call in about it.
When a customer wants to port out they are already getting a phone with another carrier, hence the reason for the port out. How can you have the customer paying for 2 different carriers? I think that's ridiculous. It leaves a bad taste in their mouth to be honest with you.
I can understand their reasoning behind it, it avoids pro-rates.
Now I did read somewhere that when t...

So, if I port to sat Sprint, and my bill cycle isn't until the 12th, I would NOT be prorated, even though I didn't have service with VZW? I find that difficult to believe.
I find charging $10 to transfer a contact list hard to believe but people pay it!!!
Most all carriers (that I know of) do not credit any part of the month back. Also, cox cable doesn't credit a part of the month back, even if I cancel the service mid way through my month that I paid for. Oh, wait, Sirius radio is the same.
So, because Verizon Wireless has the same policy as most every communication service company in America...you still have crap to say.
Get a life. This vendetta you have against Verizon Wireless is old and childish.

do you want to pay for those machines? they run anywhere from $500 to $1000 and they require a yearly committment (aka you still pay even after you buy the machine) for upgrades, but hey we should give it away ya know since we're a non-profit entity. 🤨
You NEDD MACHINES to transfer contacts from one phone to another? Are you serious?
These are CDMA phone and don't use a SIM card. We know that you have GSM so we don't need to hear you rant about using yout own SIM card. Our phones don't do it, simple as that.
The system was not capab...

This policy that VZW came up with totally baffles me and working in CS I have to explain this to customers.

This is your precious AT&T's policy too:
"BILLING AND PAYMENT
Except as provided below, monthly service and certain other charges are billed one month in advance, and there is no proration of such charges if service is terminated on other than the last day of your billing cycle. "

Joe, maybe you ought to read your own service contract before you go griping.

Well since I have not had a contract in over 8 years because I can buy unlocked and unbranded phones and just swap my contacts over via a little SIM card I have no idea what ATT does......
I do know this is practically impossible to do with Verizon. people live from contract to contract just to get a phone......any phone. The...

Not sure what your point is. I can walk into a Verizon store and buy a phone, bring it home and activate it to my numbers online and use backup assistant to import my contacts. Don't see much difference, except it may take a little longer.
Of course you can, You can do that at all carriers at FULL RETAIL,,,But can you buy a new phone for $200-$300 LESS than MSRP and do the same Like ATT and other GSM CArriers?
THAT'S my point..
You need new arguments. I think you've made at least 7400 posts that ALL state that you have an unlocked GSM phone, you don't have a contract, you use a SIM card and you're mad that people that aren't you pay Verizon for their services.
Start a facebook group or something, it still makes no sense for you to gripe here over what other people choose to do with their money.
Nobody is flaming you for spending $400+ on a phone. I think it's silly but I know you're reasoning behind it. We all know though and we don't go along saying...

Most folks would rather have a great deal up front on a phone than pay full price. Anyone can do the same thing you do. They can buy full price phones and transfer numbers with Backup Assistant for free.

The most expensive phone I have at my store is the Dare at $440 or so. Yes I can guy it at full price without changing my plan.
There are some that are on the old America's Choice plans that would need to switch to Nationwide to use the Dare, but for the people that would rather have the plan than the phone, that device is not for them.
There are websites that offer phones way below retail, so yes, anyone can do it.
Where do you get your phones anyway?
The point is you HAVE to pay full retail if you don't sign a contract. If ATT had the Dare it could be bought at less Than ATT retail for the same phone.

ever heard of ebay? 😉
Somehow I did not think you could buy a Phone out of contract on Verizon and not have to deal with the Carrier at all. Can you buy new phones at less than retail and keep your plan without letting Verizon know what phone you have for 8 or more years and nevr have to make a call to them?
Doesn't matter what phone is used. In fact, when people come to me with their own phones to activate or renew service, I make quite a bit more becaue my company doesn't lose money on the phone purchase.
its in the contract that they signed that if they cancel the service will disconnect on the last day of the bill cycle. they signed it.
