Looks like verizon has released an internal document containing some defensive tactics to use when confronted with iphhone fanatics who come into verizon stores.

I actually think its a good idea and the info looks pretty good.

Personally I am happy that Verizon passed on the 3g Iphone. I heard Apple wanted just about total profit of it's sales and we know Verizon wasn't going for that.

Could only activate it with Apple, no real insurance, to much drama if you as me.

I have never been jealous of it, I feel bad for the people that can't live without it.

I agree, even Motorola doesn't gain that much attention for screw ups! Apple may make good computers, but they're still on training wheels when it comes to phones. I would like to get a iTouch (same thing just without the phone function) But not being able to change the battery, and they release more software updates than Microsoft Windows haha! I admit the iPhone looks cool for a touch phone, has an attractive user interface, but as high tech as it was the 3G feature should have been on the very first model, and making a hardwired battery is just plain retarded. Sending a phone off to get a battery replacement. What do you do in the mean time, send smoke signals? I predict they'll get it right one day, but people need to wait it out....

These documents are pretty much a common place. They have stuff like this for all types of key products/services of competitors.

i have had a chance to see this. it is something i have discussed with my team members at the store.

i have also had a chance to play with the iphone rather extensively. and i can definitely say that it is an awesome phone. i would love to have one. it just doesnt work in the area i live in. vzw works great in the area as well as altell.

honestly, aside from all the objections and reasons for not buying it, i can say that i would probably own one if it worked in the area.

Defending vzw and overcoming objections about at&t and the iphone are quite easy in my area because at&t simply does not work.

lol, if ATT service in your area sucks you ought to sell the iPod Touches at your store - you could tell the customer they will basically get the same voice quality as if they bought the iPhone (none) and they don't have to sign a contract 😁

I think it is funny that the one who responded could only attack the fact that the flyer stated the iPhone doesn't have audible turn by turn directions. They stated that they "wouldn't pay for Verizon crappy GPS service". Why? I use VZ Nav all the time. I even did a friday night gig as a Pizza Delivery driver to kill time and make some extra dough (pun intended) and the Nav is freaking awesome.

Anyway, trashing a product is no way to sell against it anyway.

Customer: "You got that iPhone?"

Me: "You mean that phone that is a touch screen, camera, web browser...etc?"

Customer: "Yeah"

Me: "That is a pretty neat phone huh? Let me ask you, what is it that interests you most about the iPhone?"

Customer: "I like that tou...
