Well, I guess VZW is going to continue to be #1... 🙂

I just found this:

"Verizon Wireless, a venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group Plc, said Thursday operating profit and revenue rose on strong subscriber growth in the fourth quarter.

Cingular, a venture of SBC Communications and BellSouth, surpassed Verizon in size by buying AT&T Wireless in October but Cingular's ARPU fell 5.8 percent in the fourth quarter, raising concerns among some analysts."

Hmm... why did Cingy's ARPU fall that much? And did that contribute to them not being profitable this quarter?

And while I like that Verizon is doing so well profits-wise, I'd also like them to 'spread the wealth' and ...

Oh, I know about Triton. Phoenix shared in one of his rare non-rage moments.

I'm just wondering if Cingy's loss of ARPU contributed as well.

If Cingular didn't buy Triton PCS they would have still not turned a profit. Please go to Wirelessweek.com and archive the fourth quarter results if you don't believe me. The Triton Card doesn't hold water.

If Verizon lowers their rate plans, their ARPU is going to fall, too.

Maybe Cingular's low ARPU is a result of them actually offering a good value on their plans, as opposed to what Verizon was offering prior to their new rate plans.

Cingular is changing their rate plans on the 14th. We may very well see that ARPU rise by the end of the quarter with the changes that they are making.

Cingular ARPU is trending down because of poor Data offerings and converting customers to GSM and shareplans. Verizon has been increasing ARPU because they are gaining Business customer base and offering better Data services than Cingular. Please go to Wirelessweek.com or RCR new.com and archive both companies if you don't believe me. Here is a tidbit from January 27th on Verizon's 4th quarter results post.
Earlier this week, Cingular Wireless reported 1.8 million additions during the fourth quarter, ending the year with 49.1 million subscribers. ARPU dipped 5.8 percent to $49.67, primarily due to the transition of customers to lower-price GSM plans and the continued popularity of FamilyTalk.

So how many of Cingular's customers are ...

Uh- oh, I feel the gravy line coming back... 😉
I kinda like when people aske each other to pass the gravy... It kinda makes me feel like we're all sitting at the dinner table over thanksgiving or something and just talking bout cell phones and service... 😁
