Verizon's new voicemail system

I received a voicemail on my phone today from Verizon, informing me that, commencing on March 9, 2005, Verizon will be instituting a new voicemail system. The voicemail said that one of the differences between the new system and the old is that it will be possible to access all functions with one key and another is that it will be possible to save or delete the messages before listening to them in their entirety.

Does anyone know anything further about this new voicemail system?

Did you receive a voicemail? did they call you while your phone was off or something? I find hard to believe that they would call all their customers to let them know about a voicemail change... that's why we have bill inserts for.

Yes, it was a recorded message delivered to my cellphone by Verizon while my phone was turned off.

As of yet there is no news of an upgrade to Verizon's voice mail system. The only possible explination that it may be the whitestone switch (voice mail server) in your region is being updated/changed/replaced, but not all whitestone switches. hope that helps.

The voicemail platform is being updated in certain areas of the midwest. The message sent is a pre-recorded broadcast message that automatically goes out to every cell number affected.

I personally have not heard of the new upgrade. Do keep in mind however that there are various different voice mail platforms. Therefore, not everyone is going to witness/experience the change.

That doesn't sound new. You can save or delete messages right now without having to listen to the whole message. When the message starts, dial 33, then press 7 to delete or 9 to save.

All I can tell you is that this was one of the differences mentioned in the recorded message left on my phone.

Like I stated, not all voice mail platforms are the same. Therefore, the layout and quick keys are going be different.

Let's just hope that they fix the redundant message.

You have one UNHEARD messages. First UNHEARD MESSAGE sent,.... firs unheard message.
Okay I got it... the message hasn't been heard.

That's great that those are available in your voice mail platform.

Like I have stated twice before, there are different voice mail systems/platforms; therefore there is going to be a lot of variance in the roadmap and short cut keys.

I wasn't trying to discredit what you had previously stated. I was actually trying to help you make your point, that some people obviously don't currently have these features, but some do have them.
