question for Verizon rep
I switched from ATT to Verizon 13 months ago. I have had so many problems with my Samsung a530s: had it changed twice, software had to be upgraded twice, and the phone does not work well in my apt. I was told by tech support that I need to switch to a tri-band phone and even had tech support tell me that Samsung are not the best phones in terms of quality.
I have spoken to customer service and the store manager very politely and explained the problem and hassles I have been through. Basically, they want to give me an early upgrade price and will not give me any sort of discount on switching phones.
I am very annoyed about this. Any advice?

if u r a hight end user, ie ur plan costs $80 or so a month, they may work with u to get another phone at the upgrade price but ask that u extend the contract. that sounds fair to me, thats what i would offer u.
...
Consider this: the 2 year upgrade price is $120 discounted from the retail price of the phone and you are getting this 9 months sooner than you should, I would say that you are being treated a little better than fair.

Technically by offering you an early upgrade you are being granted a large discount on equipment. Its the truth
