I went with a friend of mine into downtown D.C. today to see the museums and we took the metro instead of having to deal with parking and driving. My friend had to borrow my phone to call his house since his Cingular phone had NO SERVICE inside the tunnels.

I really like the VZW capabilities that a lot of other carriers don't have, like reliability, great clarity and service wherever I go. I'll take that over a Razr phone that doesn't get good (or any) service in certain locations.
Verizon's best at what cellphones are meant to do, plus a lot more.

You are to funny đŸ¤Ŗ Someone praises a company that spends the money making sure that customers get service in a tunnel and you find a way to rip on it! The whole point is that Cingular obviously doesn't have more bars in more places and hasn't raised the bar. I hear that Cingular plans have gone up as well, hmmm kinda seems like they are getting worried about paying off that 41 Billion đŸ¤Ŗ

HOw many people nationally care whether that have phone service in a tunnel or in the woods of Qregon? I dont think that is a great selling point to pay more for less....

I do hear though people are leaving the great VErizon because of little ole BT though. Now that seems to be more important then tunnel service.

Even in NYC Cingular is better regardless of the tunnel issues lol

Envy no! I'm just enjoying the reading of excuses and rhetoric from arrogant employees who predicted Cingular's demise due to the purchase of ATT...The MASSIVE exit to Verizon as was so vehemently expected. After all Verizon has JD Powers and Consumer Reports. LOL And this is just the beginning.

Its enjoyable to read the name calling and chest pounding of arrogance making a thinly veiled attempt to defend the indefensible.

No no no no no Doctor Older......Its not about envy at all.

He's probably getting the data from the fact that Verizon is spending 900 million in network improvements in the NYC area. Not to mention the fact that studies(not surveys) are showing Verizon is losing to no less than 2 carriers in NYC in the coverage reliabilty department.

Verizon announced the 900 million right after Cingular was named the best carrier in NYC by 20/20. Apparently they took nokias from all the major carriers in NYC and Cingular came out on top.

The test was last year, so the Nokia phone wasn't outdated then.
The reason they chose Nokia was because all of the major carriers they tested offered one and because Nokia is generally the most reliable phone.

For your information the piece of Oregon I am speaking of is a desert. And actually 3.5 million Oregonians care. No it is not NYC, but very few places are.
US97, US20, US26, US395 and US95 are major over the road truck corridors to other places. Seems like there should be massive GSM coverage there, but there isn't. Cingular lists GSM coverage in Eastern and Central Oregon, which presumably is from RCC. The only problem is that RCC probably won't turn their GSM network on for several months. They have been having some issues with their GSM upgrade.
In my store we get Cingular customers from California and the Willamette Valley who can't use their phone because outside of town there is no network.

According to EVERY carrier, data is the future of wireless.
Your point is a valid one, however, for every tunnel Verizon covers, Cingular has another tunnel or area that Verizon doesn't.
2 years ago, Verizon could say that they had the best coverage, but not anymore.

Tell this to all the people in rural areas that were promised that they would have service from cingular there, just to get to their home and not have service.

VZW still has the best network nationwide. Cingular is catching up, but they still don't have the same reliability that VZW has.

I love where cingular is going, but they have not gotten to the final destination yet. They have the most customers, now they just need the same reliability in their network.

I am not here to have a pissing contest between VZW and Cingy, as I am tired of those. I love the competition. It keeps my bill cheap.

Thanks for the English lesson, why don't you help Kingfrog since he is more needy. You are clueless, the point of the above statement was that Cingular didn't have service in the tunnel hence the question of more bars in more places. Cingular may have more towers at this point but are they able to cross operate the two networks together?? In other words can the 850 network hand off to the 1900 without dropping the call??? Do the customers need to go and get some stupid 64k simcard or whatever to use both networks??? At least with Verizon I can use my nearly three year old Motorola phone and not worry about getting GSM here or TDMA there or getting pissed off that my GSM phone doesn't work in rural areas since it has no analog capabilitie...

I carry both vzw and cingular phones. I dont travel extensively--so I cant speak to coverage much outside of the DC area.

However, I can say that from a coverage perspective there's not that much of a difference between the 2. BOTH have deadspots or areas where coverage is poor. However, when it comes to service, phones w/features, and cost Cingular definitely wins.

The Razr(or any other Cingular phone) will work in just as many areas as a digital Verizon phone.
