a friend of mine lost a phone. is it possible that if someone found it and tried to set it up for them own personla account, verizons computers would show the phone as lost/stolen, take the phone away, and contact my friend that the phone has been found. or is the phone lost forever and whoever finds it can use it for themselves?

thanks

It's kind of a %50/%50 chance of either happening, the esn doesn't always come up stolen, most of the time it appears that you can just change it out though ☹️

do what I do, when ever a customer or an associate steals a phone from my store I call verizon and alltel and tell them to lock the esn and mark it as stolen. Because if the person is smart, they would try to activate the phone on alltel's service which can be done. But if you call both, the person is out of luck...
