Just saw this on engadget and I was kind of curious as to what was going on with this device.

Article Cut and Pasted:
We're not sure if these are like intimacy issues, magazine issues, or technical issues, but Verizon has put out a vaguely-worded all points bulletin to its employees saying that the Glyde's somehow screwed up and should be pulled off shelves immediately. In fact, the situation's so bad that Big Red won't even let you have a Glyde back if you send one in for service -- they want to give you an enV2 in its place (though it says in the memo that customers throwing a hissyfit over the switcheroo can be provided with s...

I've been wondering about this, myself. Honestly, when the Glyde's touch screen works, it works quite well. From my experience, the touch screen just screws up every so often, so much so that it's unusable. It's a shame. It could've been a great phone. I'm thinking that it's some sort of actual flaw with the touch screen that can't be addressed with a software upgrade.

I'm glad about this. Our company never offered these phones, but I've had so many people come in trying to return them/have them serviced.

Apparently due to screen issues the sales of the glyde have been stopped. No replacement models will be given. The lastest software updates did not really help all of the touchscreen issues.

I want to throw away the displays of this abomination to technology but it is still showing on the web for 150.00. Are they pulling it or not?

They will not pull the phone. They have halted the orders for new phones and will not issue any replacements. They are working on a new software update to fix the touchscreen issues that should be released sometime within the next week or so.

there was fatal errors with this phone, some people were oomplaining it wouldnt make a phone call once locked up and you had to remove the battery to unlock it sometimes. Touch screen never ever worked and Samsung basically screwed us on the handset.

My samsung rep said they are making up for it by giving us the Omnia first, but that wasnt sufficient to vzw.

supposed to have "significant improvements" and is being called a "required free update" for all glyde owners..

Apparently the upgdate adds:
Improved touch screen performance
Improved "overall operation and speed"
Bigger onscreen numerical keyboard in the phone app.
Improved /faster web browsing.
Full screen web browing (gone is that annoying bottom bar)
and more that wasnt named.
