How many of you will be getting the STORM???

I have never seen VZW hype a handset like they are this one. Are there really thousands of you out there that are rushing to get one when it comes out? I wonder? This will either be the biggest handset launch or the biggest flop handset launch. I haven't heard of anyone camping out in front of a VZW store waiting to get one. I am feeling rather uneasy about this.

WHy do you feel uneasy? This phone WILL NOT FLOP. Look at their track record, RIM makes great devices and they put a lot of thought into making sure their devices work flawlessly for both business and regular customers.

This is exciting because of so much of what the iphone lacks. This phone will revolutionize the touchscreen genre and im geeked that verizon is getting first crack.

I might get the phone, if I can find a way to get it for less than $300...but I won't pay $600 for a new phone, thats just nuts. Plus im really enjoying my curve.

My concern is the data plan that VZW requires on a BB. Either $29.99 for consumer or $44.99 for enterprise on top of whatever their voice plan is. I think a lot of customers are thinking they can just get the Storm with their current non-Blackberry plan.

2.4 million iphone 3g activations with a $30 dollar att data plan

Trust me, it wont be a huge issue.

They never do. It seems to be better to have too few phones than to invest a ton of money and then have them sit.

I think this will be a better launch than the voyager/dare, but expect this phone to be in limited quantities for awhile.

Loads of people think that now...and everyone who doesn't know will find out.
In a nicer way I state to them, "You gotta pay to play." Why get a phone that does so much if you're not going to use it to it's full potential?

I have been thru 2 iPhone debacles - 1st Gen and 3G. I refuse to believe it can be worse then that!

My first iPhone took over 48 hours to activate - my 2nd iPhone 3G, I waited in line for 8 hours..finally got in the store and they would not sell it to me due to the issue with having a work discount on my plan months before.

I am not expecting long lines, but I am definitely getting one the day of. I switched to Verizon just for it and am under my 30 day worry free guarantee. To boot, a rep has extended my worry free guarantee just to make sure I can get the better price.

why would you wait in an 8hr line for a phone that had already burned you once and really wasnt even that much of an upgrade from the original. Just curious.

And hopefully people wont have to camp out for the storm. I thinking the supply will be pretty strong.

You WILL get burned on this one. VZW never, ever extends the 30 day return period on devices. The rep you spoke with was just trying to make a sale.

Take that phone back on day 28 then wait for the release if you're trying to play games like that with the return policy.

Not me. I haven't been a fan of anything touch screen from Verizon, and even though RIM makes quality smartphones, look at the whole "Oh my God it's a Boulder" mess. That phone flopped and supposedly it was going to "blow everything else out of the water" of its kind. I'm not buying it. I mean, the Curve was a known quantity already when it finally came to VZW. And the Storm may be fantastic, but then again, it may not...

Not to argue but are you serious? It may or may not be a good device? You really think vzw in light of all these economic issues would throw all this support behind one flagship device? Not only that bothering to get a lifetime exclusive on the device in the u.s. for a crap phone? Please before making comments like this try reading some reviews. www.crackberry.com, www.engadget.com, or even the phone scoop one. The last negative review came from a very early preproduction unit by a ninja kid thinking he is sub-zero with a scratchy voice several months ago.

I don't believe I ever said it was a "crap" phone. The question asked was how many of you will be getting the storm. I answered it. I am allowed to comment. And as for "reviews", It's hard to read a review on a phone that isn't out YET and people haven't used YET. People bash the iphone all day long despite it's supposed "perfection." Touchy are we?

When Joe the Plumber gives a review of the phone on November 15th, 16th, 17th, or whatever, then I will see whether I'm impressed...or not.
There's really nothing else to say.

I will definitely be getting the Storm, I have every model of BB that Verizon sells and I can't miss this one! I finally got to see a working one at the "Blackberry Roadshow" the interface is quick and fairly polished, has a 1400mah battery, bravo, RIM...now if only you could get us that 5MP that the Omnia has...

I'm getting 100% if it is $199 and Verizon hasn't completely lobotomized it.

I'll keep it if it works as advertised.

The hype and the waiting time has allowed me to come to my senses, I don't need another $30 on top of my $55 1000 min. voice, plus all the extra BS to make it $72 AC plan. Blackberry or smartphone is the only way I can keep my $55 plan. I want to dump Verizon completely but around here there is no better service.

Simply because Tmobile is cheaper, Sprint is cheaper, and both of those have better phones with more features, in fact most if not all other carriers are cheaper and offer better phone choices.
Verizon forces me to change my plan, pay more money for less mins., if I want any other modern HTML phone, or go Blackberry for more money in each case. To me that's reason enough.

sprint and tmobile are not cheaper, they just offer diff groups of things. verizon gives you unlimited IN calling to 85 million people and the network, tmobile gives you more anytime minutes, sprint gives you more data. etc.

You get what you pay for in life, do you bash a 5 star restaurant for costing more then Mcdonal...

I've done some shopping around recently with smartphone/blackberry plans and for what Verizon provides (a large INcalling group, amazing 3G service, etc) I'm willing to pay the extra 6...yes..6 dollars a month to stay with Verizon.

I hope the hype is going to pan out. I wonder if there will people waiting on the sidewalk all night outside the corp stores. I hope so, just so I can tell them they should have pre-purchased it at Best Buy and they wouldn't have to wait in the cold.
