Quick question
My girlfriend wanted a good basic phone that made calls and had a 1.3 mp camera on it and low cost. I found the U550, based on the reviews and features, and had her try that Since we have found a lot weird quirks with the phone like pressing the volume buttons on the side does not turn the outside screen when shut, and I've never seen any phone use the same charger as it, what is up with that? She is coming from the LX54000 or something, just another basic phone.
She was fully eligible for the lowest pricing, if anyone knows if Verizon actually makes a decent low to low-mid tier phone that'd be great! Thanks, -Drake

On a Samsung you have to hold in the volume buttons for a second or two, it will then light up.

1.3 mp camera? try the 8350. It is a 1.3 mp camera and if she has the NE2-100 pricing (the highest discount like you said) the phone should be free after rebate.
It does have an mp3 player/mobile web, but most people who buy the phone don't even use those. they just like the size and feel of the phone. it is a slight step up from the 5400, but still a good basic phone.
The 8350 is the closest in feature set to the 550.
