Contract / reactivation after porting out question.

Yes I decided to port my VZW number out to another carrier because work uses that other carrier and will pay for it. However, I wanted to reactivate my line with VZW but get a new number. I was told by one rep that the only way to get an ETF credited back is if I port the number back. Since that number is used for work mostly I do not want to do that. Anyone know if there is any way to just get a new number on that said line and get the ETF credit??? I cannot call to ask another rep yet because I am at work with no more breaks.

Thank for taking time to read this.

no you cant do that. the only thing you could do is port your old number back and get a new number for you new provider.

What you were told is correct. But I have seen this scenario several times. Here is my suggestion, go to a corporate store and advise the store manager of you situation and why you ported out. Advise the manager that you are starting new service again with vzw, they have the option of giving you the credit of the etf on the old account that you ported out because you have started new service. If you address the situation in a nice manner and advise the manager of what you want, most times you will get it, especially with starting new service. If that doesn't work, call customer service and advise them of the same scenario and that you have another vzw account that they can reference. You may get half off the etf fee. It is worth a shot. Good...

In the west area it is possible, a manual reactivation form would have to be submitted. Basically you will receive a new number and the etf will be waived.

I'd deal with it at a store.

If you were out of contract, and need a new phone, the store could easily do a "WINBACK" and give you a new number instead. It requires a manual ETF re-rate (credit) if the manager is willing. Most sales reps might get an add off of it, going toward their quota, even though Winbacks normally don't count for anything.

I've seen customer care do this, too.
