My new job will require me to travel into rural areas of Ohio. I am planning to switch from Cingular to Verizon but I'm not sure the coverage is good enough. Any opinions on verizon would be appreciated

If you look at the coverage map it should show where service is available. Verizon uses Alltel in areas where thay have no service and Alltel is supposed to have a good network in rural Ohio areas from what I have heard and used myself in Western Ohio near the MI/IN/OH corner. VZW also offers a 15 day time period to try it out and return it if not satisfied.

You will run into a few problems in south eastern ohio near hocking hills and wayne national forest, but that is about it. I have had my phone for about 4 years and have ran into few problems anywhere in ohio. I know in my area verizon is your best bet, if you tell me what area of ohio you will be in I could go a little more in detail about our coverage here.

I will add to this.

I've driven and stayed many days in Ohio. My VZW phone has worked from Cleveland to Cincinnati. I've had excellent service in Dublin and heck even Polaris Blvd.

I'd say VZW is definately your best bet. Honestly I'd go to a VZW store in Ohio to get more of a detailed answer.
