Wow, now who is actually raising the bar?? What is the delay with nextel? Will the VZW PTT compare and is it better than Alltel and Sprint PCS PTT?? Where and who are they expanding the network with, Western Wireless?

Wow, Cingular wasn't even mentioned once in the original post and yet you managed to get the bashing in there.

You have it in for Cingular. Sad...

Perhaps he does, but as long as kingfrog (aka "We hates Verizon FOREVER, me preciousssss!") is trolling this forum, BDJ won't be remotely close to being the #1 carrier-basher.

Even more sad, I'd say. ☚ī¸

To answer your questions:
Nextel has little appreciable delay on their PTT. Sprint's delay is about .5 to 3 seconds on the original ping and about .25 to 1 second afterward. This depends on the amount of network traffic.
I have never used Alltel's so I could not tell you.
I would imagine that Verizon's will be close to Sprint's. But they took away group calling which could be a bummer.
All in all Sprint's readilink works very well. I use it almost every day. Verizon's should work just as well. Not up to Nextel standards but very workable with room to improve.

If Verizon can not compete with Nextel now then it wont hang with Alltel. Alltel is the only company out so far that offers PTT service with times comparable to Nextel. And I doubt Verizon will be using western's towers as we all know they are in the process of being bought out by Alltel. Once We grab a hold of western, and now we are in the process of expanding our coverage for cellular and PTT, Alltel will have a two way service that no one an touch. We are the only ones who offer "do not disturb" option for PTT. We are the only ones who let you two way some one and put them on hold to answer a call and vice versa. No other company out there but Alltel offers that and now we are expanding our coverage and offering Instant messaging through...

Do you have any kind of a link confirming this? And VZW reps, does this seem plausible?

I realize that you reps can't come right out and say, but a simple 'we cannot confirm or deny' rather than 'its not gonna happen' would speak volumes 🙂

It's only 2 days to wait. But from what i heard this PTT is going to be good. But nothing can beat that kodiak system though.

It's PTT. Which stands for "Push To Talk", the walkie talkie feature on a Verizon phone a la Nextel's walkie talkie.

During our test in training it was less than a second delay. Also we were told it would not take longer than 1.5 seconds to connect.

I believe that delay is .5 to 1.5 seconds.
