Broadband connect with phone vs laptop card

First off, I have never used a laptop connect card, so I apologize if the questions below sound naive.

Are there any significant speed differences between broadband connect through an EVDO rev A phone and a laptop connect card?

Also, with a laptop card, do you get a phone number, and can you somehow make calls using software installed on the computer?

Thanks in advance for the assistance! 😁

With a wireless card (for a laptop) you do get a wireless number, but it is a data-only plan with no voice capabilities.

Remember that the data card is also run like a 2 year plan (if you get a discounted price on the card) so ETF applies whereas tethering is a feature, so if your circumstances change, you do not have to continue it. (at least that is what I was told, but I am still new to the industry)

You can use a VOIP program with an aircard. There isn't a noticable speed difference between a Rev A phone and a Rev A card (as long as you are using USB, I have seen speed differences using Bluetooth), the main attraction to having a card is the dedicated connection versus sharing a phone/data connection (ie you could get a call while surfing the net).
