New Verizon Customer has a Question
How do you send a text message to your phone from a home PC? I asked CS what the proper address was for Verizon but it didn't work. Other cell phone providers I have had commonly used [email protected](or com) or something similar.

you can do it a couple ways.
yourphone#@vtext.com
Or go to VTEXT.COM and set yourself up a username. then it would be.

This method used to work but it no longer does. It stopped working around Feb 2007. Now get error message like:
550 SMTP connection refused
451 4.4.1 reply: read error from smtpsp.vtext.com
554 5.0.0 Service unavailable
It was great when the service was turned on. I am guessing that maybe Vtext has crippled it so we would have to go thru them. They might be thinking about charging for the service in the future. I am only guessing but I have heard on the net that many people are no longer able to send text messages from their pc. Vtext must know about it and the reason they are not doing anything perhaps is anyones guess. 😡
