Motorola Hint
Is Verizon going to be getting this phone??? I know they already have one similar but I want the Hint. Any way I can buy it from Altell and still use it on Verizon.

until the merger officially goes through, you prolly will not be able to use the hint.
After the merger, all alltel phones should be allowed on the verizon network (I would assume, but I could be wrong)

I thought since they work off similar networks you could unlock the phones and use them on each other's networks. I guess that is not true. Not fair!!

you cant really "unlock" a cdma phone. That is more of a GSM technology. Just wait till they merge and the phones should be interchangeable

There is a way you can try to activate the phone on the VZW network, it's a process though. You would have to take the phone to a direct (corporate) store to have a tech check it out. If it's operational they will send it to the warehouse to have them further test the phone and make sure that it won't be harmful to the network. The warehouse will send you the phone back with an approval or denial letter and if it is approved then you can take it back to the store and they can activate it. The process can take 2-4 weeks (if i'm not mistaken)
