I currently have the EnV and I like it but I work for Sprint and play with the Blackberry Curve on a daily basis and adore the phone. Now I am not planning on leaving Verizon to go to Sprint (especially since they are closing our center after Feb), but, I would like to have a plan that will still give me my texts, IM, and possibly the navigation. I am currently on a shared 1400 min plan with the unlimited text deal. My other 2 phones still want the text, but no data. I know I have to have a data plan on the Blackberry, but what would be the cheapest way to go and still get what I want?

Upgrade your line and stay with the Select plan. All you will have to do is add the $29.99 Email and Web (Unlimited) and the $9.99 Advanced Devices feature for the VZ Navigator. This is your cheapest option.

but i thought there was a $40 plan thing that included everything? is that not available for the bb?

Save the $9.99...now that GPS is enabled on the Curve just use Blackberry Maps for free.
And get the Curve...I went from the enV to the Curve and will not go back...

$120 a year...
Ans it's just as accurate...just no turn by turn directions.

ok the curve i have here doesnt have the bb maps installed. does this locate you with the gps on? or is it similar to google maps or mapquest?
...
blackberry maps will locate you via GPS. It just doesnt offer turn by turn. I think it works well. Vznav is nice, but I just keep a garmin in the glovebox that I got for $99 bucks.
If I ever need GPS on the go, Maps works well enough for me

Man come on what is that really? In my book it is only .33 day. I could find that laying on the ground every day if i wanted too. People spend 10x that on a cup of coffee every day of there lives. VZ Nav has so much more than just turn by turn.
Lets look at some of the other benefits:
-it is aGPS so it does not need line of site to the sky in order to work
-It has different modes for different circumstances, ex. pedestrian for when you are walking in the city, truck mode for when you are driving a larger vehicle or towing a trailer
-it has a companion website so you cen save your destinations on the computer and send them to your phone
-It has place messaging so you can send someone else a text message with your locaion
-it has upd...

the premium plan wont work with bb, u can use a basic/select plan, add the 29.99 for internet, then 10 for nav
...

no, the select plan includes messaging. basically the only thing extra the bb requires is the 29.99 data plan, or 44.99 for corp email. so pick a basic/select plan and add 29.99, or pick a email&web?email&web plus messaging plan and the 29.99 is already included
